The view from the Home End

At last the international break is over, and we get back to business as usual. As much as I do not like the Monday night game, it does mean that City cannot ruin my weekend, which is the usual state of affairs at the moment. No one seems to give Palace any chance against us, but I am not so confident. They will not be a pushover, and their fans will be behind them. Ive decided to include another  picture of The Crystals, but don’t panic I am not changing sides! I can guarantee that there will one more gratuitous picture of Shane Long’s ass before the end of the season.

Now…COME ON CITY !!!!

My Favourite

What a night Easter Monday will be .Selhurst under lights ,game on Sky ,sell out crowd ,reigning league champions coming to visit , Palace a win away from safety (only 4 times ever have teams gone down with 39pts).

And the rest…

Queue inevitable 0-3 defeat

Without being eyeoreish I think we will get well beat. I think we need more solidity in the middle. And need Jedinak for that. Unless Pards has plans eg beefing up the middle.

Palace are a very good side and have not been well beat by any team this season.

If City think that they are going to roll us over then they will have a rude awakening as the Palace shackles are well and truly off and having been cheated up there Palace will be eager to put on a show to ram Pellegrini’s comments back down his throat.

If it’s on sky then there’s not much point in going. I’ll be much cosier at home, in the warm sitting on my confortable leather arm chair from dfs tucking into a sasauge roll and then going on to having a pre match quickie, which for some unkown reason is frowned upon at selhurst. I mean we all need to discharge our pipes once in a while, just one look at those crystal cheerleaders gets me in the mood.

Very different circumstances last year. Citeh were buoyed by Stevie G’s unexpected slip against Chelsea and Yaya Toure was on the form of his life. If Chelsea beat Stoke on Saturday, it should be a pretty demoralised Citeh team with Pellegrini studying the ‘situations vacant’ ads…..

Looking forward to this game! Let’s have it!!

Citeh’s away form hasn’t been that great in recent weeks (but then neither has our home form!) and for that reason I am going to go for a draw. City to take the lead before half time and Palace to equalise, 1-1 or 2-2, I’m not decided on that yet. I’d prefer the 3 points obviously but my fiver on Bet Victor wants the draw

Should be a city win but I’ve got a sneaky feeling for 1-1. punch for us and Silva for them

Can’t continue losing the ball so cheaply 30 or 40 yards from our own goal, improve on that and we’ve every chance of a result

Taking the game to them would be suicide. Yes we’re a decent side these days but we still play best when we counter attack.

So whilst I agree we could get something from the game lets not get ahead of ourselves here after our recent run of good results. We’re playing the champions and they have exceptional players – if we’re reckless we’re risking getting thumped and I’m quite proud of the fact that after nearly two years in the prem no-one has ever turned us over.

Would like to keep it that way

Burnley tactics worked quite well against them and that was built on sound defence, counter attacks and good set pieces

Yup, Burnley beat City but they didnt give the ball away time and time again like we did on saturday, really need to improve that area.

Citeh were brilliant last year. They figured out we were an on the break team so they… let us have the ball, knowing we couldn’t hurt them that way, scored two, shut up shop. It was clever anti-Pulis tactics and if I recall were the only top side to take that approach. Brendan Rogers should have taken note. Glad he didn’t but you get the point. It was the perfect counterpoint to a countering tactic. Didn’t we have a high % of possession that game, but little impact – almost evens I think even though we were getting about 30% even in home games. We are a different team now so interesting to see if they try similar again.

Last year, Toure was an absolute beast. Some clapped him off the pitch which annoyed others but the reality was that we had just been destroyed by a player who at that point in time would have walked into the World XI.City should win the game comfortably but there is a stubbornness about us now and I find myself losing the pessimistic attitude I normally have watching Palace. If we are all at it then as ever, we have a chance.

You would expect City to be capable of beating us, I worry more about our players ‘not turning up’ when it is a bottom 3 side we are playing. Over the more recent years I have been supporting Palace evening games have been some of the most memorable, so that’s what I am expecting.

They are weak everywhere – Murray will batter Kompany, Zaha will destroy Clichy (assuming they are not stupid enough to play Kolarov) and I fear for Zabaleta trying to contain Bolasie.

Will be interesting to see the midfield battle – can Mcarthur, Ledley and Puncheon control Toure et al? Game hinges on that – 2 of our 3 need to have blinders. Hope they play Milner, and not Navas.

We’re gonna beat them 700-0 wipe the floor with them
