The view from the Away End

Review-of-the-Match-Manchester-City-Vs.-Everton-Barclays-Premier-League-2013-14-687

Its been a difficult week trying to find comments from the away fans, but I think I have caught a flavour of what the Scouse2 fans are thinking.  There is one comment which is wildly delusional ( or simply a WUM). I heard a few of the away fans on the 5 Live podcast, after the midweek game, and  they are seriously unhappy. Based on many years of supporting City, I have no idea what to expect tomorrow.

Whatever happens, COME ON CITY

Team Selection

                Howard

Hibbert, Jagielka, Distin, Baines

       McCarthy Besic  Barry

            Mirallas, Barkley

                   Lukaku

My favourite

Just put a tenner on City to win 3-0 at 20/1 at least I will have some interest in the game now.

And the rest

The way things are going, it would appear that Aguero will be having a field day against us. I haven’t watched our away games against Chelsea and Manchester City in ages; I have an irrational fear of the two mentioned teams. That being said, our away record against City is not too bad. I don’t think we’ll get massacred, but I expect nothing at all from this game.

City’s movement against Sunderland was simply breathtaking; Touré is only part of the problem.

We could  of course try to sink lower than the worms and do our utmost to get a couple of City players sent off. Nasri has a short fuse; hurl a few insults at his family, and he will snap. Then there is going to be a Balkan battle between Besic and Jovetic.

The rumour must be true then all other keepers on Everton’s books have had both hands removed and there is only one choice.

On the plus side we’ll be going into this with eyes wide open.  Won’t be any illusions of an easy game.  I agree with three “holding” players, so long as McCarthy is fit.  Sit him and Barry just in front of the back 4 and let Besic be a mad dog.

We will beat City at the weekend.

City don’t like it when you get at them and have it with them. Any pretty pissy arsed passing football and we’ll be swiftly dispatched and slapped back down the Lancs with our tails between our legs.A more defensive cautious approach for me. Try and hit them on the break and use Lukaku with his front to goal let him bomb at them. Defensively they aren’t great.

I think it’s a game where we need to stack the central midfield, play Mirrallas, McGeady and Lukaku and hit them on the break, of McCarthy is still unfit we need to decide between dropping Ross back or trusting Osman.

In true everton fashion after playing horribly against the worst teams in the league we will win this match convincingly just to confuse supporters even more.

I reckon we’ll get a 2-0 win there

Can’t match the pace City has all over the pitch, so we have to do our best to counter and negate it. Press them high up the pitch and give them a short field to work with. Timmy Howard is going to have to be at his absolute best in order for us to get a chance at even 1 point. You know they’re gonna fire off at least 10 quality shots on goal

I think this is going to be a really close game… City are lacking fire power this season so with their little Argentine lacking confidence in front of goal, put up against jags and distin (our rock) then I can see yet another clean sheet on the cards.I think if we play to our strengths and pass it around at the back for 85 mins this would really intimidate City and really show them we are going there for the win.

After the past few weeks and some of the performances we have put in we have nothing to fear…. It’s only city

So how do we go about this?…. Stick 4 men on Aguero and board the goal up

Nailed in one, close thread.

Rest everyone who’s not fully fit, play everyone in our half except Eto’o behind Lukaku and Stoke it up.

Who the fook are city !!!

If our distribution is like it has been in the last couple of games, particularly from Jagielka and Distin, then we can dream up whatever system we like, because City will have us on toast.

Let the assistant manager pick the team..In all seriousness as we’re all expecting to lose this game anyway, Id like to see Martinez be brave and drop some of the players who have let us down all season. Distin, Osman and McGeady are not good enough for us.

If Howard, Distin and Osman start be arsed watching this.

It’s irrelevant what we think as Roberto has no plan B,it’s tikka takka slow boring pass the ball along the back line until one of city’s many skillful talented and quick forwards take the ball from us and let’s be honest just hit the ball towards goal because on current form that’s all it takes to beat Timothy Matthew Howard

Aguero vs Howard and Distin gives me the willies. And not the good ones.

Park the bus or enlist some of the brickies working on the Etihad extension to brick up our goal and the gaping holes in Tim Howard ??

It’s a game we are expecting a tonking. So 1-0 will feel like a draw

I don´t think it´s as nailed on we will lose as people think. They´ve been frustrated by other teams this season. We are all just assuming we wont find form again. When quite often its been a big game that gets the pep back in our step.

Might actually help us not having that much of the ball, as long as we are solid and have quick players in attacking positions. A front 3 of Lukaku, Mirallas and Atsu for me.

We don’t need tactics, we’re Everton. Get f*****ng into them
