The View from the Away End

I was planning on posting this tomorrow night, but there were already a lot of comments (because of the International break), and I think this lot give us a general idea what the toffees are thinking ahead of the game. I guess the big question is will we accept anything other than three points, at home after getting nothing before the break. Surely we are all going to be happy on Saturday evening. Oh wait, I forgot, this is City

COME ON CITY!!!

Referee: Michael Oliver
Assistants: G Beswick, S Burt
Fourth official: A Taylor

From The Liverpool Echo

Refereeing boy wonder Michael Oliver will take charge of Everton’s trip to Manchester City and Blues will be hoping his appointment is a good omen as they have only lost one of their last eight games when he’s been the man in the middle.

Team Selection

Stekelenberg

Holgate Jags Williams

Coleman Gana Barry Baines

Bolasie Lukaku Mirallas

My favourite

The ginger ninja will carry them to a flawless victory.

And the rest…

City have been destroying teams left and right under Pep so far.  The international break will give some players a chance to rest up and get back into shape (Baines, Barry, Gerry?) for this match.  It’s away I think i’d like to see us go 343 to contend with Aguero better.  In all honesty with the way we’ve played lately I’d be very happy with a draw

I’m writing this off as a 5-0 defeat now

I think this game could be just what we need to get us back on track…We have started as favourites in the last 3 games and failed miserably so nobody will be expecting us to get anything here and the pressure will be off. But as badly as weve played , apart from the first half against Bournemouth, weve looked pretty solid defensively. Koeman now has another fortnight on the training pitches to get the players up to speed on his pressing style of football…I can see us pinching a draw

I have a bad feeling about this one. I can see us getting ripped a new one tbh.

We’ve given city a hard time in the past and turned them over a few times I think we will come away with a point

stones, otamendi, fernando, kolarov, are all brain fart culprits.  they are weak there for sure.  all out attack the fuckers and we might have a chance.

They looked shite against Spurs keep a high tempo don’t let them control the pace of the game and we’re come away with a win Pep thought Bournemouth were the best team they had come up against that’s because they press hard as Spurs did no brainer really get into em

I think they’ll come with a point to prove. Wish they’d won their lat game and were over confident

I’m pretty certain we will perform better than our last visit to that stadium, which at this stage in our development is what we should be aiming for.

With KDB and Sterling out I expect a real decent chance as mentioned by @Neiziro, they can really punish you on the counter. But IMO those are the two most talented guys they have that can do that, especially goal scoring threat wise (of course Aguero is Aguero). Jesus is garbage, just got to watch Aguero he can single handily beat any team…
Odds are he will get hurt though…Hope Rom nutmegs Stones for a goal.

I’m going to clap Stones at every touch, just to see how many heads explode…8-1 City…
They’re really really good…We’re really really average…Barkley gets our goal in front of our away end and just moons them. He later tweets: “Where are the haters?”

Barkley always bags against City. We’re 1-0 up already.

Smash these nobodies

I think we’ll win.
The boss will have Pep and his tippy tappy football well sussed out.
As will any Manager with a clue.
Man City will not win the prem.

Just want to see the work rate of the first half of that Spurs game back again. A sensible tactical approach and every player doing their best is all I ever ask for. If they’re better on the day so be it. If we turn up, our midfield seams around, the front line troll the fans with ridiculous end product, and we don’t make City earn a win, then the boos will probably be back out.

I refuse to give up on this new optimism thing, and it’s gonna be 1-0 to the Toffee’s.

They’ve shown they’re beatable and even Swansea pushed them close. As usual with Everton, the question will be are we going to put in the sort of performance where city have to be at their very best to win the game, or are we going to put in the almost routine showing of late against big clubs where we barely put a tackle in and they cruise to a 2-0 win despite barely getting out of second gear?

I don’t know if it’s already been mentioned or not, but for anyone going to this …The City fans will be having a minutes applause at 26 minutes for Anthony Hayes, a local 26 year old lad who died of a heart attack a few weeks ago. I think he collapsed shortly after playing a game of footie ?…I’m sure we’ll support this in the same way the Palace fans did at Goodison for Jake Watson.

We will not lose this football match.

We’ve got to be positive and continue to be solid at the back. Let’s hope Rom is fit. If he isn’t id play a 3-5-2 jags,Williams, mori,Coleman,Baines, gana,Barry,Ross,Gerry and bolsaisie

Aguero out? Doesn’t even matter, they still have Kelechi…6-1 City

I wish to god we get a result against this lot.

sergio-in-the-net

I reckon both De Bruyne and Aguero will start on the bench and come on if or when they’re required…We have a real chance here of a point, imo. It’s natural that all their players will have the Barcelona game in mind and a lot of them will have air miles and fatigue from two games in 5 days to shake off…This is as good as it gets in terms of fortuitous times to meet a team like City.

No reason why we can’t get all three. This team isn’t conceding many goals, so we have a chance in every game. Physical teams who press hard beat City (like Spurs and undoubtedly Liverpool) we need to assert ourselves on their weak back 4 and shut Silva and de Bruyne out of the game. They actually don’t have much of a physical presence now that Toure Kompany Fernando Bony are no longer favoured. Stop Silva and De Bruyne and this team has shown itself to be beatable…My one worry, as always, is that only 1 of our first choice midfield three has the necessary pace/aggression/work rate to compete at this level in the prem.

It’s irrelevant who plays !!

City are quality, and have already looked terrifying. Great to watch…We need to be on the top of our game, and hope they are not on theirs…Made up with a point.

Comfortable City win by 2+ goals. Can’t see a way of getting a result, our team simply doesn’t have the depth or balance to do so.

just copy the way spurs played vs them. sadly i don’t think we have the right attackers to do that.

In all honest though, and I know I’ll be called a bad Kopite for this, but we’ll more than likely get bummed. Last three games have been horrendous – almost going back to Martinez days – and I can’t see a sudden upturn in form to take anything from this one. Another loss here and it’s 3 losses and 1 draw from last 4 games and we’ll be down to about 7th. Think they’ll just have far too much for us.

If De Bruyne, Aguero and Sterling all play on Saturday I can’t see us getting a result. If one misses out (preferably De Bruyne) we could make it difficult. If 2 or 3 of those don’t play we have a good chance.

I think we’re more than capable of losing 4-0 here.

Lose minus Lukaku. Draw with. City due for a big win as are we, but………

Play Deulofeu upfront and pack the middle of the park . He has the pace to harry Stones and Bravo and the rest of their defence is a bit suspect .

Would love to see someone go through stones early doors.

I currently feel that we’ll probably play very well but still get hammered…Too many Man City players able to smash us with individual brilliance

Just hope we get out of there alive…

The talk of us getting twatted 3/4-0 is a bit much…We’re very solid at the back and Koeman will know how to counteract the way City play. I don’t think we’ll ever see us receive a hiding under Koeman…I think it’ll be a tight game myself.

excited to watch football again
