The view from the Home End

I think I should be more nervous about this game, given the week we have had and the man in black, but I just have a feeling that we will get something from our trip to Merseyside.  Playing 120 minutes on Thursday night has to have had an effect on them, even their plane was late getting back. I didn’t see their game, but no one has anything good to say about the performance. Oh, and for the record I loathe and detest Skrtel!

Time to break the Anfield jinx….

COME ON CITY !!!

Team Selection

Mignolet

Toure Skrtel Sakho

Ibe Henderson Can Moreno

Sterling Coutinho

Sturridge

And the rest

Hopefully Sakho and Henderson fit .. Think we need as many as didn’t play 120 minutes tonight as possible

As expected, even before last nights shambles, this is going to be a very difficult game.
It will be interesting to see how many people who claimed certain players were “tired” last night, then go on to demand they play on Sunday

A point would have been good result for this one…. I know ptt not going to like this, but going to say it anyway – difficult to see us getting a win for this one.

Yeah, back to business. A point would make me dance in the street.

As for tiredness, sorry, not and never will have that bull excuse. Get out there and fight for the club. If the players don’t, won’t or can’t, then look squarely at the manager. But I confidently expect massive energy, intensity, hunger, desire and bloody hard work against City. Last season’s game against them in the final phase of the season is and always will be one of my absolute lifetime best memories. Come on Liverpool, show us your true colours. I know they’re red and they’re utterly unstoppable!

Would have begrudgingly taken a loss here had we gone through last night but I’ll be pretty damn pissed off if we don’t see some sort of reaction from the players in this game. Hopefully we’ll see the likes of Sakho, Henderson and Coutinho back in the side as well as Strurridge and Sterling playing like they give a shit.

Difficult game that we must not lose.

We will win this

Draw

The good thing is Utd also have to play City, and I can’t see them getting anything in that game. So even a point here would be a bonus. A loss wouldn’t be the end of the world either, apart from losing ground on Arsenal.A win would be massive though and send out a big message. I think it will be close and could come down to one or two key moments. Just need to put in a good performance

After the last match, not so confident now. If we take that performance to Anfield we’re going to lose

Been a lot of goals in this fixture in recent years and I think it’ll be the same again, can definitely see both sides scoring and could easily be another 2-2 scoreline or 3-2 either way

Let me be the first to say, we’ll twat these c*nts.

One thing we need to cut out against City is those cross field passes that make it so easy to get an interception. If Toure, Silva or Aguero pick up one of those, we will struggle to get it back without a shot being had.

Must win. We’re still playing catch up. We’re at home. They’re a bunch of mercenary c*nts. If arsenal can do these 2-0, we should easily beat them A draw wouldn’t be a disaster, it would be fairly close, it would probably mean arsenal away would definitely become a must win.A defeat, well fuck it, it’s not an option. We don’t want to be heading into March with exactly the same amount of points after the same amount of games that moyes had last season and all the shit we gave to the mancs.

It’s not as if City have had a great week either and they were given a real lesson by Barca. This is a winnable game. Their defence is looking shaky and we have the pace to cause them problems. Our league form is better than theirs. We just need to try and keep their forward line quiet. I can see both teams scoring and as long as we can really get ourselves up for it then we can win this. Let’s smash em

As for our recovery time being very short my hope is that since our best XI is very young-ish they might not need as much recovery time as let`s say City`s XI given that their average age is like 29 compared to ours of 23

My big worry is that we are going to fade massively around the 60 minute mark.  Allen, Sturridge, Sterling are all going to struggle to get through this game.

My main concern is who’s going to pick up Silva. Second half in the 3-2 last season he gave one of the best half an hour displays I’ve ever seen, We couldn’t get near him. That said we can certainly get at them defensively. Kompany is woefully off form and their fullbacks can be got at aswell

2 days is not enough recovery time after playing 90 minutes, let alone 120 minutes.  Of course we are going to be doing recovery sessions for those players that played yesterday but I don’t think it’s enough time to not be a disadvantage

Balotelli has to play the last 20 mins or so. You can see the inevitability of him scoring a winner against City. Think it’ll be a draw or a loss though. Beskitas and City will be the blip in an otherwise triumphant march to 4th and FA Cup success

At this stage of the game, though, all teams should know what they’re about. Pellegrini is much the same as Rodgers, using small sided games to teach the principles of how he wants the game played. We’re coming into the business end of the season. We could play 3-4-2-1 or 3-4-1-2, push up aggressively or drop off and hit on the break. Everything that’s know about how we play is known. If we lose this, it will come down to them having Aguero, Silva, Nasri and Toure. If fitness was a consideration, we’ll see it in a devastating scoreline, I think
