The View from the Away End

i

Time for the last Saturday game at home for this season, and I have no idea what to expect. The Potters have apparently already gone on holiday, so it should be an easy day. OK, we all know that’s not going to happen. I don’t think The Count really cares about the PL, and is not interested in what competition we play in next year (why would he?). I’m not building my hopes up this week, and I hope we laugh at the away fans from The Bet365 Stadium

COME ON CITY!!!!

Team Selection

Given
Bards Shawcross Wolly Muni
Whelan Cameron
Diouf Imbula/Afellay Arnie
Bojan

Referee: Andre Marriner

And the rest…

Only slight hope is that Man City rest a load of players as they’ve got Newcastle midweek, Bony instead of Aguero, Delph instead of de Bruyne and suddenly it feels a lot less daunting……

If Muniesa plays, we’ll be hammered, simple as. And Affelay in the wings is as useful as a cardboard cutout of my grandpa. We really could use the experience of Glen Johnson for this game.

Muniesa will play I don’t see that we have much. Afellay will be solid and disciplined , my point being that after the last 2 games Hughes will look to be solid and make it difficult for Man City

It’s this chopping and changing which is fucking us over. Next season, we need to pick a team and stick with it.

Solidifying the middle three has to be the main focus, as Spurs waltzed through us. Tough on Afellay, I guess, but we have gone a bit Arsenal this season – too many airy fairy, fancy dan attacking midfielders – they simply can’t all play at the same time! We have to get the balance right. Cameron will add some steel and Imbula will be freer to attack as the most advanced of the three. Bojan playing wide right does not fill me with confidence, but Shaq looks injured and disinterested, Walters is long-term injured and Diouf is no wide man. I just feel he possesses the magic that, with one touch, could carve open their defence on the counter.

I don’t think it matters who plays. We’ve given up…Surely we’ve got to see Shenton over the coming games though?

Aguero is licking his lips and salivating already

3-0 to the Mancs, without them breaking sweat.

It ain’t gonna be pretty…We can only hope they will settle for third spot and go on holiday like our lot did 3 weeks ago.

I think we’ve gone as a team this season. I wish the season was over to be honest. Quite depressing, isn’t it? My worst nightmare is getting hammered by the big clubs!

4-0 loss. Again there will be a change up front, just praying that Hughes begins to play one striker for a run of games next season

We’ll beat them

To me, our only chance is if they still think its a Sunday game and don’t bloody well turn up?
Although their women’s team could beat us at the minute (scoring four goals obviously) if they were due to play on Saturday?

As an alternative, we could just field the youth team. Let’s face it, we’re going to get larruped anyway (again), so why not give them a chance to prove themselves and let our obviously tired, ‘don’t give a toss’ first team (because that’s how they come across at the moment) have a rest?

The players need to go out there and actually give a sh*t. There is no shame in losing if they actually get out there and give the opponents a game, but the last couple of months that simply hasn’t happened and I really can’t see anything other a 4-0 reverse. Again. I hope they prove me wrong in a big way, they are certainly CAPABLE of beating Man City but I really don’t think they can be arsed. They all seem to be desperate for the season to end so they can go off on holiday.

I went to this same fixture in the 2014-15 season expecting absolutely nothing, and came back from the best Premier League away-day I had that year, courtesy of Diouf.  I am a realist, of course – I’m going again this Saturday expecting to probably get beaten, but I’ll be thinking of August 2014 and hoping for the same.

None of us like to see Stoke lose but for me if we lose by a few goals but actually put in some effort and heart, that will be good enough for me in light of recent performances

Shaq out again, great! Why do we pick up an injury every single game? That will probably mean sticking either Diouf or Bojan on the right – both completely ineffective in that position. Mind you Shaq hasn’t done much better

If we do well in this game or even win it questions need to be asked as to why we are so shit at home. This is just the sort of game we seem to do well in

For the first time since Sparky came here I’m not even sure I feel like watching on Saturday
