Are we there yet? January is plodding along without really telling us too much with – let’s be honest – all focus and aspiration on the return leg of the league cup tie…

Fortunately, they do love an off night at City and when they’re bad, they can be really bad. Having seen some shocking performances from them this year it’s not beyond the realms of possibility we could win all 3 although I would rest a few for the league game just to so we don’t show all our cards before the cup game. I’d leave Rom & Del out.
If we played an understrength side and got a result I think that would destroy them mentally for the semi.
I also hope toure is declared bankrupt in the future the lamentable narcissist. He looked overweight and uninterested at goodison the other day and besic and barry completely outplayed him.i expect silva to be more dangerous though.
Think about it, turn up to contain city, whilst the manager and his staff scout the city players. See where they move, when they recieve the ball, what they look to do with it etc. We may lose, but come 2 weeks time, we could be effective in running their best players out the game.
I would be tempted to give Lukaku some added rest and field a false 9ish front third of lennon/miralles/deulofeu and look to run city off their feet. Then in the 2nd leg, with rom, go back to plan a. This would keep them guessing

I’d play jags,stones and Mori as a back three. Baines and seamus wing backs Besic and Barry in the centre and kev Gerry and rom as a front 3. 3-4-3 if u will
I hope their central defence will be Mangala – Otamendi
Need besic to do an early snide tackle on someone (Aguero, toure, Delph whoever) to let them know who’s going to run the midfield
