Summer transfer thread

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I see the M(u)EN are running a story of who Tixi & MP were looking at after they were spotted at the Copa - as the press these days is shit and lazy, they'd done the same about Un*t*d, which was underneath the City article. Checking they hadn't just listed the same players, I was amused to see Verminio played shite for Brazil missed an open goal & it was decided that was good as it would lower his price & also that Di Maria might bring himself back into the fold!! Amused me anyway

Yeh Boca. Little Argie slag has been trying to force his way back for years.

doesn't bother me one bit. What bothered me at the time was him leaving for Juve and saying he was trying to get closer to home. He just needed a change. Mancini fucked him imho, plain and simple. Sadly. For all the good Roberto did it was his one act of hubris i felt. At the time i hated Tevez for the shit but history is proving to lead me to believe that Mancini used him as a scapegoat for his European failings. Totally fucking Machiavellian move on his part. And it sorta kinda worked, but only after he brought Tevez back in from the cold so we could win the title.

Strange times. Mancini courts dissent and passion as a leader and when it works it's awesome, when it doesn't....you, uh, look for something more....holistic.

cheers

got to feel sorry for West Ham, they are the only Team that Tevez has played for that didnt win the title whilst he was there :-)

There are reports on Talksport.com that 'Courgette'...you know....that Argie kid who we loaned out to.....noone it would seem, is wanted by Verona as their first signing. If he goes to Italy he'd be known as Zuculini or something like that.

What amazed me wast that they manage to sell Kakuta to Sevilla for 8 mil.

Kakuta joined Sevilla on a free. if Chelsea sold him for any money to anyone that would've been the transfer coup of the decade.

Kieran Trippier to Spurs for £3.5m could be the bargain of the summer. He was excellent for Burnley last season in what was a vitally important season for Trippier in proving he could cut it at the top level - he certainly grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

So he earns himself a 5 year deal at Spurs. A big club, if not a top club, though I think their style will really suit him. Attacking full backs with the ability to deliver a telling cross as well as being quick and able to defend (of course) are worth their weight in gold and he has all of this.

He should get in front of Kyle Walker who whilst has pace and likes to get forward is suspect in decision making with his final ball and is a shit defender. So a massive opportunity for Trippier, at 24 he has time on his side to further develop.

Who knows maybe an England call up if he settles in a Spurs. I would be well chuffed for the lad, always hoped he would make it at City.

Absolutely, always nice to see academy players released/sold don't just slip away, even more so now knowing how hard it is to graduate to our first team. Let's hope Mee can also find his way back to the premiership too.

Sometimes, albeit very occasionally, some players are late developers.

All the promise that they showed as youngsters somehow never seems to come to fruition until they are nearer to their mid-twenties and then, to a greater or lesser degree, they find themselves - usually after having to step down to lower League teams to achieve this.

I wonder if Trippier will now 'blossom', to some extent, in these better surroundings at Spurs ??

It'll certainly be interesting to watch his progress.

Feck no. Tiime and time again he proves he has a flawed mentality. We need undamaged goods (and smarter goods too).

Not now, not next season, not ever.

Far better players with more character out there. It's a big no from me

Wonder what this means for Yedlin, who they just joined the team in January. Likely a chance between both of them then, but more likely a backup or sent out on loan. Guessing Walker will be sold.

people are saying Yedlin may be better served playing further up than the right back position, kind of like when Bale was moved forward from left back.

That is a fair point as his skill tends to lend more towards attack than defence. When he came on against the Netherlands in the last international break he did well to create the winning goal blowing by the defense with his pace, and putting in a good cross. Similarly to what he did in the World Cup. He did put in a crunching tackle against Ozil in the last US friendly which Spurs fans and some here would probably appreciate.

I see him as a central midfielder with a good shot on him - kind of like a watered down Lampard with one tenth the intelligence - unless we plan on selling a central midfielder I don't see where he would fit in other than as a benched option for resting Silva maybe - although I guess he could play out wide in a pinch (he's not really known for it if I recall correctly). I'm really hoping the link with us is just lazy journo speculation with Wenger favouring other options last season and us in the hunt for one or two association trained players.

Plenty of Italian interest in Jovetic it seems from both Milan Clubs and Juve. Sale please no option to buy. Di Marzio says Roma are interested in Dzeko. Meanwhile Goal claims City will make one last bid for Sterling; 40 million plus 5 add ons. We're optimistic, they say, that this will get the deal over the line. I saw the rerun of the Premiership in 2013/14 today and there were some clips of Sterling. He looked very good I must say.

I wouldn't be averse to having him back at City as back up to Zabba, especially at that price! Ticks the home grown / club trained box too!
