What should they have done? Made up their minds spur of the moment and put the tealady in charge for 6 weeks while they found a replacement?

We shouldn't have replaced him in the first place!!!!

You just have to look at our neighbours in Salford & take a keaf out of their book (as much as it pains me to say it)

We just have taken a leaf out of their book. We appointed a manager with a record of WINNING TROPHIES. Just like Sir Bacon Face had when he was just a wee sausage.

Yeah & when Mancini doesn't win any trophies will he be sacked? Which goes back to my orginal question

Not for a long timeas he is a) THEIR CHOICE not Thaksin Shinawatra's choice and b) because like the wee sausage was at the time, he is a proven winner not just a wannabe.

The drunk bacon face was a nobody once & had to start somewhere.

Sparky has all the potential to be a top manager which he was well on the way to being before he was stabed in the back by the spineless Garry Cook

The proof of SBF's ability before he joined the scum is there in the record books. Hughes is not a proven winner. I doubt he ever will be. We have brought in a proven winner to replace him. End of story. Get over it.

Well. We'll see won't we.

It's only my opinion. I honestly thought these days had long gone whereby we chop & change the manager in the face of adversity. Never mind eh..... Just goes to show we're still a club that gets everyone talking.

Some people are happy with whats been done some aren't. I for one aren't happy but again it's only my opinion. I guess we just need to pick ourselves up & get on with it.

We aren't in the face of adversity! That's surely the point? That's why this is a calm considered move not a panic measure...

That may be so. But the media have made it sound like we are.

Mancini wins the league 3 years in a row and we are debating whether or not he's any use before hes even sat in the dugout.

You couldnt make it up.

Exactly. The right decision at the right time. Maybe now we have a chance of the top 4 rather than struggling to make the top 6.

That's a lickers mentality for you.

When he was at Lazio he was known for playing in a very un-italian way. A bit more cautious at Inter. But he was known for playing quite a high tempo game. This caught the opposition off guard because they were used to the traditional Italian approach of slowly, slowly build up. He played high pressing, a lot of fitness work as well as tactics.

I also think we will see 442. I expect him to want a simple "two banks of four" to improve our defensive organisation.
I must remember to get a new signature.....

genius!
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Walmai, you're a nice fella, but I must tell you that Brian Kidd is very well respected for his coaching skills and his interaction with the squad. He worked very well at old trafford under Fergie. It's actually not a bad addition.

I knew that, but there is still something incongruous in lodging Sparky - in circumstances where his very presence as manager was controversial for some - and hiring Kidd as Assistant Manager. You're right, its not a bad addition. It just made me chuckle to hear it.

Walmai, I take it you know that Brian Kidd was a big success as a player for City? 44 goals in 98 appearances and a major player in the side that narrowly lost out to Liverpool for the title (incidentally the last time we were actually seriously any bloody good!)? Many blues in their 40's and older have very fond memories of him and a high regard for him. So his impressive, but rag-tainted, CV will be read in a positive, or at least neutral, light by many people.

I did know he'd played for you in truth, but hadn't realised he had that kind of scoring record.

I have better memories of his being Taggart's lap-dog, before turning his hand to a pretty unspectacular (and brief) head coach's role for a while.

It wasn't meant as a dig; just a little light-heartedness from your basement correspondent.
