Ok then when should he off been sacked to 'save face'? should we have waited till January and miss some of or all of the transfer window. The summer? managers get sacked, fucking deal with it. He'll get a massive pay off and have crimbo with his familiy. He was failing as a manager, whose sole job is to FUCKING win games, not throw away points to Hull, Burnley etc.

Correct move to sack Hughes.

Incorrect method of doing it.

Overall a positive move on the clubs behalf not a negative one.

A string of bad bad draws and the terrible loss at spurs cost Hughes his job.

People will cite two losses all season in his defense but in truth we were lucky to get half the draws we got recently, we have been terrible, mainly down to a total absense of a defense.

A change WAS needed.

Voted don't care as it's the nearest one to neutral as I was neither a lover or a hater.

The sacking was handled in a shabby way, but, once the contact with Hiddink was out in the open (and the publicity was probably manipulated) then short of Cooke denying the story (and lying through his back teeth) then Les was off, either through walking or forcing the issue.

As for feeling sorry for him: if I win the lottery tonight I'm unlikely to get as much as he will in his payoff. Save me the wounded dignity crap.

How teh club handled it was not the best. We have won 3 of our last 5 games, we are 4 points off top 4 with a game in hand and we are in our first semi since 1981. And the general way today unfolded seems typical city to me.

I agree on Mancini but I agree with the sacking. Hughes had 1 win in 10 when the decision was made. And the best time to bring in a new man was before the window so he can look at the squad and have a strategy during the window.

I am happy but not in the way said above.

I agree it was abit of a weird way to do it, and I felt abit weird about it when I heard but thinking about it now and reading the owners words I am happy and really looking forward to the future. Hopefully this will stop the big split between the fans and we can really move forward in a big way! He has a good record, is still young and with brian kidds experience alongside him I think we will do well.

I feel sorry for old hughesy but I am now happy about the change.

Good luck mark, I do wish you all the best!

Seconded

Discovered from my old man 10 mins before kick off through Italy's Sky Sports that Mancini had been appointed and that Leslie was probably not going to show for KO.

Couldn't this have been arranged last thursday instead of saturday morning/early afternoon?

I may, of course, be wrong, but I'd be surprised if feeling among match-goers didn't reflect my suspicion.

Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Absolutely shameful. Very very upset, he was a couple of bad refereeing decisions away from being in the top 3 and with a semi-fina in hand - not sure if the referee in those two matches would have done things different if Mancini had been in charge instead of Hughes.

If you look at he two worst signings who we recently made they were : Jo - bought by Shiniwatra and Robinho, bought by Khaldoon ad co.... pretty much shows what non football people know.

There is only one thing which will get us there and that is PATIENCE...something we CONSISTENTLY LACK AS A CLUB.

A very balanced post which i agree with 100%. Go and write your letter of disgust to the Guardian then if it makes you feel better. The owners ARE here for the long term you muppet, Hughes, with results and performances like that, wasn't!

You're poll options are way too extreme so I've weighted my thoughts and I've had to go with the "ashamed" option based on the following:-

I was slowly losing it with Ol' Sparky and was starting to question whether it was right to allow him another transfer window to add to an already excellent squad who are vastly under performing.

But taking into account that we've only lost two matches all season and are in a position in the top half with the ability to now crack open the top four I felt we could at least let him see out the season especially as he's the most successful City manager of my life time. To be honest, Mark Hughes has had a roller coaster spell as manager - so much so it mimics City's form which is maybe why he endeared himself to me.

Now this has happened and at first I felt, well, uneasy about the whole situation to say the least. It was obvious that Hughes new what the crack was when he waved goodbye to the fans. But he has developed this team with his own signings and spent a bloody lot of money and we've only seen glimpses of what this team is truly capable of and this is his downfall - along with the shit we had to endure last season away from home. But his signings have been tremendous; I just feel he needed a bit more time to work on the problems we've encountered and I think the players need to take some responsibility for not stepping up to the mark (no pun intended).

This move is certainly a sign of intent from the owners but I think it labels us in the same sort of category as Chelsea, greedy for success. I've never know that to be the case at City. Yes I want us to win stuff but not in this manner.

But, is this a good move? We'll sure find out soon enough.

Hughes tenure was certainly worrying, He is a good manager, for a good honest club, we are not that club anymore, we have sold our sole, for better for worse, possibily for richer, than poorer, but one thing is for sure, our new manager won't have Hughes experience, and he will have to learn quickly, otherwise it will be same old, same old, best of luck to him, but he is going to need it.
Surely there is a descent manager out there who can take us forward, who we can trust and get behind as one, the way this has comeabout is laughable,'typical city',the shadow we are trying to throw away is back with avengence.

Nice one. Not used to winning games, having a couple of beers, and managers sacked, it takes me back, well not to far back I suppose.
