It's nothing like a De Jong role. He doesn't sit in front of the defence shielding them, he's a lot more involved than that.

As Dejong progressed he got better and better with the ball. He was no Xavi for sure but he started more and more to be involved and look to get play started. Look at our winning goal against QPR for example.
Kind of like what Fred is doing now.
I want to see Fred let off the hook in a game so we can see some of his attacking talents.

come on. de jong was/is good at certain things, but starting attacks was never one of them. go back and read the match threads. we all moaned about his sideways passes to the CBs.
