I thought he was one of our better players tonight. These stats I came across didn't surprise me,

-Fernandinho made 6 successful tackles tonight, twice more than any of his team-mates

-On the passing side, it was Yaya again who made the most passes (83, 88% accuracy) with Fernandinho (70, 89% accuracy) coming in second.

He's playing well, but due to the role he's being asked to play we haven't really seen anything of him going forward or driving with the ball.
It seems like we're asking him to play a Dejong type game but if that's all we wanted him for, we may as well have resigned Dejong, who would have been cheaper and done the job better.

Agree with some of this but not the DeJong bit.
My take is he has to accommodate Yaya, so depending on what Yaya is doing he has to work round it. Sometimes Yaya will make an effort to close off and defend a bit in a game, sometimes he doesn't and Ferdi has to stay behind him more. He looks ot me like he is settling into that role, however at times I think it literally leaves him in limbo. The more he gets to understand Yaya's play the more settled and effective Ferdi will be, I rekon.

It's strange Having rarely had the chance to see him before we signed him, it was impossible to really judge him. The first few games on summer pitches all players look fast. Now that we turn to the colder weather and pitches are naturally heavier, his fitness and swiftness seems to be telling. Most certainly in the last four or five games , we've seen some excellent tackling and play from him.

Haven't been a fan of Fernandinho immediatey. Thought there were some worrying signs defensively even in the Newcastle game.

I didn't see the West Ham game but I did each the CSKA game and he seemed notably more involved.

Here is hoping there is still more to come!

Let us not forget he is in a new country with a different language and culture to what he is used to. Maybe him or family needed time to settle in. After all if your home life is in upheavel it will reflect in your work.

Agree he has not set Prem on fire yet but he will do. He has all attributes to be a top player and once things click for him he will be flying.
