two setpiece goals against us from Cardiff - they nearly had one against Everton in the first half today as well. It seems to be an early season strongpoint for them.

I think what it isthat we're worrying is that we've had a team that have been there but not as a presence that could be deemed as one of the top clubs. We're there but not, we don't trust it so we get a lttle wound up, we still don't trust.

Not been overly excited so far. We have beaten a team that may well be the joke side of the season. We beat them convincingly last season whilst going through the motions. Lost to one promoted side and struggled against another.

What bothers me is that the we still have the same issues that we had last few season that wil be exposed in terms of quality against good sides.

Last season we were poor because

We did not have a second goalkeeper that will challenge Hart.
We fell to pieces at the back when Kompany was not there and had no quality replacement.
We were trying to include Edin in the build up play when he should only ever be at the end of a move.
Neither of our left backs are great defenders.
We can't cope away from home against bog average sides who are up for it.

So far I don't see any of that getting better so far. His use of Milner who was our second best player last season is baffling.

We won.
We were shite.
We will get better.
So will the count.

Still a bit worrying at the moment as that defence is shaky as fuck.

Strange how a post last season daring to criticise one aspect of managerial cock up, was often deemed ridiculous by many of the same people now getting stuck into the Count.

Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that previous manager had won us FA Cup and League title and therefore (should have) had some room to operate. That feller was sacked because we were going to get even better manager. That is still possible but people rightfully expect to see improvement on last manager not similar or poorer showings.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Of course we could go backwards but this is the first time we have had football men running the club.

We are trying to drastically change the way the team plays from a team that sits back when we dont have the ball, builds up attacking play slowly and methodically with emphasis on full backs over lapping to a team that presses high up the pitch with quicker passes and build up play with the players playing with more freedom. This takes time and it is only in games where you truly learn where you are so there is no way Pellegrini is getting sacked before Christmas

We used to have football men running the club. Frannie Lee and Alan Ball.

Sorry but all i saw today was a very rigid 4-4-2 playing in front of Hull not a swashbuckling going forward style.

A fuck up is a fuck up & should be judged on what it is, no matter what the previous record.

I don't know if Mancini is better or worse than the Count, (I wil give the Count the same time I gave Mancini to deliver & criticise if I think he's wrong) but I know I had to wade through almost religious bullshit from some people when pointing out a glaring obvious fuckup by Mancini, even being called a liar or accused of having an agenda by some.

Nobody has called me a hater of Pellegrini so far, yet I've been wading into his tactics since the first pre season game.

Nobody should be sacked so no need to get defensive. You can say it takes time but really, as our team team got time?

Imo, yes. He will be given time, provided we are on track for T4 and see some progress in CL.

Postby phips » Sat Aug 31, 2013 4:24 pm

it is a different scheme for the entire squad and theyre clearly still getting used to it. the defenders, whoever they are, are used to having Barry holding the middle in front of them. Hell, even Garcia. Now though, their Fernandinho nor Yaya are doing that job. Thus, the back 4 are all on their own and with the fullbacks constantly bombing forward the center halves are going to be left uncovered.

also, i am worried that Pellegrini's experience hasn't put him up against anything like the prem. In La Liga you have maybe 4 teams to worry about and the rest are pushovers. Here, as we've seen, newly promoted sides (i.e.: the "worst" sides) are giving us trouble. top to bottom the premier league is better than la liga and Pellegrini will have to figure out a way to beef up his defensive scheme. his teams have done well in the CL so he should know how to go up against tough squads...

still early days and i expect him to make adjustments.

That's a very good point and is in danger of being lost in the conversation Only Gary is the first guy not really coming from football

Otherwise it's much if the same.

I don't buy for one minute that this squad needs time to gel, the majority have been around for a while now.

Well obviously it's not the fucking squad which needs time to gel, it's the fucking system. If he sends the players from last year & the year before, playing exactly the way Mancini had them playing, then it would be fair to assume that the results should be the same as Mancini would get, which by my reconing, with Kompany injured, would see us lose to Cardiff etc & finish about fucking tenth.
