then how much are you going to pay him.moyas is asking 30 million.even if he gets 20 million he will be buying 2 quality players.everton is our greatest rival this season .for top 5/6 we are expecting.even 20 million is too mmuch for a defender like lescott

I think we should lose this "bench warmer" mentality mate. If we have a squad, surely every player should be considered good enough to stake a claim for the 1st team. Buying a player as a bench warmer seems to imply a player "not quite as good".

So you'd rather pay 15 or 20 million pounds for someone who at the end of the day still is ''not quite as good'' as either Toure or Ned?
Either buy a world-class defender (very unlikely) or buy a good, solid defender who can compete with Ned, Toure & Dunne. If we opt for the second, there is no way that player can be worth 20 million. Lescott is good but never worth 20 million. Signing him for such a ridiculous price would probably mean Hughes will be less likely to drop him, even if his form isn't up to scratch. Don't want an overrated Trekkie getting in the way of Nedum's development

I am making the point that we should only buy the best that is reasonably available.
There is every chance that whoever we buy is going to take part in the season at some point and we want only the best quality we can get to wear the shirt.
I understand your thoughts about Ned and like you want him to succeed but if we want to compete with the best...we have to have the best.

If we purchase Lescott, would this be the CB selection order?
3rd) Ned; 2nd) Dunne; 1st) Lescott
Ned should be playing every game, hands down. How can Hughes ignore his amazing performances last year? He was impressive at RB against Barcelona!
Maybe we should try...
Ned---Toure---Lescott---Bridge
