He has been a very fine player for us, sadly the debacle and his appalling behaviour in Munich and then subsequent 4 month holiday in Argentina will always leave a bitter taste. He came back and made a telling contribution in the run-in meaning he was forgiven but can never forget that episode. This season along with our team in general, he has not contributed enough goals but has in the main still worked hard.
His wages off the books along with several other departures already this season - Adebayor, De Jong, Adam Johnson, Balotelli and then with Kolo Toure, Santa Cruz and Wayne Bridge contracts expiring in the summer and will be released should free up alot of money to make some moves in the transfer market.
Sell him for £20m, free up a load of cash and do what exactly? Who is there out there that can replace him at the moment? We'd have to spend 2-3 times what we sold him for to replace him. I don't see the point in selling one of the top players in the world to buy another one with probably no premier league experience.
He's doing great and is working really hard for the team. He used to go in head down and try to shoot it through a defender when there was a much better option on to pass. Now he sees those passes and has become a much more rounded player.
When the time comes, we will be a weaker squad without Carlos. Let's not force the issue and let's try to strengthen the squad with him still in it.
