I would still have the same attitude at that new company as i did at the old one and that would be to do the same job to the best of my abilities and hopefully reap the rewards they promised.
We would leave our jobs if we were miserable, unhappy or under-used. Footballers are the same but on a shit load more money than us.
Exactly!
I've always said the same when commitment issues and "how much they love us" questions come up. It's their job, just like we have ours. We have different levels of commitment to our work places but truth is if someone came in offering to triple my wages for same job, I'd be off. That's why I work, to earn money. I don't love (although I don't hate my job either, it's alright) my job but I'm delighted to hear my job praised sometimes.
Sitting on the bench is same as when you've been transferred to less important assignments at work. You still get your pay check but you also know that at some stage they are going to try and get rid of you. Same as with Petrov.
World leader in your area of work is looking for a director and your named is being touted. Same as with Robinho.
You've moved to other company to take up pretty similar job but you were formerly employed by bigger company. You were forced to leave because you couldn't get along with boss. Same as with Adebayor.
You had bit of a backstabbing collegue who was brown nosing the boss and in the end of the day you were fighting for the same spot with this feller and the boss gave it to him. So you thought "fuck it " and left to another company. Same as with Toure.
You've won in lottery and you got shitloads of money. You are considering whether you keep on working especially if that big deal you are working on will come off next summer. Maybe sailing in Caribbean with the family? Same as with Tevez.
And so on and so on. They don't love us or the club particularily, it's just their job.
I am two ways on that mate and thanks for turning a shite topic into something to talk about lol. I think some players do like playing but I agree its rare to find a player who likes playing for their team. Players like Gerrard for example is a rarity I think he really does love it their and loves every game. Though I do think its very rare in the modern game. Their is just too much money involved... Maybe this should be made into another topic? as it would be actually something worth talking about?
I think NQDP just took the OP and broke it down to debate it. You really should have done the same thing instead of abusing the OP Vhero.
As for your comment on Gerrard, we'll see how much he loves it if Liverpool don't finish top four this season.
They are ALL mercanaries in some form or another and there is a price for everyone, so if a player didn't move before because he 'loves the club', its because the people looking for him didn't offer enough. Simple as.
Money makes the world go round. That doesn't mean that the professional footballer does not love what he does though. I have no problem with the players mentioned above, as long as they are playing an important part in driving us forward.
