you're a character Stu.
Last season -
Pep refused to change his tactics
Made ridiculous subs during matches that ended up costing us
Forced Gundo in when it was clear his legs were gone
This season -
Haaland has carried us with goals
Cherki has come in and been class, despite Pep telling him to stop his flareFoden has stepped up again
Hope that helps.
Pep has not told him to stop his flair. Pep has told him to do the simple things. Yes flicks and tricks look good for the highlights reel (when they come off). I agree with pep, you don't need to complicate a simple situation by doing something unnecessarily, you are likely to mess up more often than not. That's when we will all get frustrated with that situation, especially in the big moments when composure and simplicity is needed.
If we are cruising and it's in th final 3rd then yes, allowance can be given to let his creative side do some magic. Once the hard work is done!
Just my take on it.
He told him to do the simple things AFTER he'd had a MOTM performance by doing the simple things and giving us magic. In the same interview he said Savio was brilliant and would play loads. There was absolutely no need to say anything publicly that was negative related to Cherki. No need at all.
But man-management has never been Pep's biggest skill.
Do I want him gone? Not really. But do I think these wins have been down to him? No. Just my opinion
You've really got a bee in your bonnet about the comments re Cherki after the rabona. It was absolutely the right thing to say to keep his feet on the ground and if you look at his performances since it hasn't made him change and he is putting in the hard graft Pep requires from him.
Feels like we're all just arguing for the sake of it at the moment on here. The good and the bad is because of all of them the manager and the players. Sometimes it's more on Pep (fucking ridiculous selections) other times more on the players (Peps picked a team were all delighted with and then the players make stupid mistakes or miss a load of sitters).
I think we're quietly getting our mojo back this season, to be 2 points off top when we've been a pit hit and miss so far stands us in good stead for a strong second half to the season
