At about 5 minutes this person tries to argue "both sides"...except...

The argument Barcelona's "season ended" on August 23, 2020 (the day they were eliminated) goes against everything we know about how football seasons in Europe go every year.

The Champions League quarter finals are always mid-April when European leagues are still taking place. Leagues end in mid-May (May 18 was the last date for games in la Liga in 2019).

May 30, the "deadline" for Messi to leave on a free is about 1 month before the end of contracts for players, June 30 or about 2 weeks after the La Liga season is over.

Based on this, he should get AT LEAST a 2 week window to make a decision if he wants to stay.

When Messi came out to say he wants to leave it was less than 2 weeks since Barca was eliminated.

What is becoming abundantly clear is the club don't care about him or even the fans, sounding as desperate as ever throwing their greatest player ever under the rug. Is Messi that desperate to leave that he will pay it because that's the only way it gets paid. Barca has every right to ask for a transfer fee and even at the £150m mark, if you take into account his wages does that price him out of a move anywhere? Keeping him and paying him £100m and then losing him for nothing screws up Koemans rebuilding plans so Messi v Barca needs sorting before anything else happens. If the numerous reports out there which say that Messi wants to genuinely leave (and it’s a big if) then the loan scenario can be a compromise which allows Barça to save face and show that they did not cave in completely. A loan deal with some kind of payment, provided City pays all his wages can become attractive if Messi digs in his heels and refuses to play ball (literally). I think City would welcome such a deal knowing that they will sign him permanently at the end of this season. Again this all depends on whether Messi has reached the point of no return or not.

If they dont sort something out in the short term then Messi will just leave on a free next year, so dropping Barca in the shit they are trying to avoid. Everyone knows this so they cant just kick it down the road. They have to sort it out.

The only card barca hold is a disputed contract. Even if he has to stay and they force him on the pitch - they cannot force him to kick the ball. He can leave for nowt next year so basically Bartomeu cannot win, he holds a losing hand.

None of the parties in Spain seem to know what the real state of play is with his contract so It's probably conjecture from City sources unless our lawyers have been over his paperwork.
