At about 5 minutes this person tries to argue "both sides"...except...

The argument Barcelona's "season ended" on August 23, 2020 (the day they were eliminated) goes against everything we know about how football seasons in Europe go every year.

The Champions League quarter finals are always mid-April when European leagues are still taking place. Leagues end in mid-May (May 18 was the last date for games in la Liga in 2019).

May 30, the "deadline" for Messi to leave on a free is about 1 month before the end of contracts for players, June 30 or about 2 weeks after the La Liga season is over.

Based on this, he should get AT LEAST a 2 week window to make a decision if he wants to stay.

When Messi came out to say he wants to leave it was less than 2 weeks since Barca was eliminated.

What is becoming abundantly clear is the club don't care about him or even the fans, sounding as desperate as ever throwing their greatest player ever under the rug. Encouraging loyal fans through a campaign of carnage to turn them into agents of his destruction even though the most honest ones know this approach is a disaster, clinging to straws and maybe better to just move on.

'Mas Que Un Club?' Their fans deserve better. It's sad really

I don’t know if this has been discussed, but since Messi clearly wants to leave and Barça and La Liga are saying that the buy out clause stands, then how about a loan deal ? A season long loan to City can solve all these legal issues, maybe ??

If he’s on loan I’m assuming we won’t get any image rights because he’s still technically a Barca player? It may stop us with promotional stuff. I don’t think it’s that easy because this isn’t just for footballing reasons.

In a sensible world it is a neat solution, but Barca want enough cash to finance a rebuilding or to avoid the humiliation of losing him.

Any city fan with a keen interest on all the very latest developments and movements in Messi leaving Barca follow @HagridFCB
This twitter account is sensational and all the “top” MCFC accounts are using his news and data . Sam Lee using it word for word . Hagrid 100% saying MCFC have a “deal” in place to sign Messi just the Barca contract wrangling holding it up . Spanish la Liga politics also (Tebas the fat bent cunt) but they are basically irrelevant.

It's gonna be a case of who blinks first. Looks like his contract is watertight so there's no scenario where he walks away free without paying his release clause. Is Messi that desperate to leave that he will pay it because that's the only way it gets paid. Barca has every right to ask for a transfer fee and even at the £150m mark, if you take into account his wages does that price him out of a move anywhere? Keeping him and paying him £100m and then losing him for nothing screws up Koemans rebuilding plans so Messi v Barca needs sorting before anything else happens. The loan scenario makes sense but I doubt Barca would play ball as they can still command a very big transfer fee.

Why would Barca let him go on loan. At the end he walks away for nothing. If they were gonna do that they may as well sell him for a nominal £25M say.

Reading between the lines City have a fee in mind and it is clear city and Messi,s legal entourage have been talking for a good while . Messi to continually talk about leaving Barca for free is the curve ball though and it does seem Bartomeu is scared of this hence his ridiculous embarrassing stance . Messi threatening the departure will get nasty for Bartomeu and the reputation of FC Barcelona says it all . Bartomeu is going to have to cool his stance in the coming few days as there isn’t a chance this will end in court . Messi will win one way or the other , meanwhile MCFC sit tight with a deal in place for when it eventually happens .

Really this is turning into a shitshow from Barcelona.

I think it speaks a lot about how some clubs are. As a City fan of course I want this free and so, but for all that he did there, this is really a horrible way to end his saga at the catalans.
And somewhat, our owners are seen as the bad guys.

I remember we did the same with Silva, Kompany, Yaya. Cunts.

If the numerous reports out there which say that Messi wants to genuinely leave (and it’s a big if) then the loan scenario can be a compromise which allows Barça to save face and show that they did not cave in completely. A loan deal with some kind of payment, provided City pays all his wages can become attractive if Messi digs in his heels and refuses to play ball (literally). I think City would welcome such a deal knowing that they will sign him permanently at the end of this season. Again this all depends on whether Messi has reached the point of no return or not.

Latest twist reported by the Sun.

Messi's lawyers saying buy out clause doesn't apply in the final season ( I thought it was Spanish law that every player has a buy out clause) so if Barca enforce the June 10 deadline, he's a free agent because by default we're into the 20/21 season now. Lol.

i rekon that's about it 64. It all boils down to what barca can get to save both face and maybe more importantly - their finances. If they dont sort something out in the short term then Messi will just leave on a free next year, so dropping Barca in the shit they are trying to avoid. Everyone knows this so they cant just kick it down the road. They have to sort it out.

The only card barca hold is a disputed contract. Even if he has to stay and they force him on the pitch - they cannot force him to kick the ball. He can leave for nowt next year so basically Bartomeu cannot win, he holds a losing hand.

Who blinks first? and what is the payoff?

If Messi can wait 6 months then it is all over, Bartomeu gets concrete wellies and dropped in the Med.

Jorge Messi will sort this before the week is out pal . Bartomeu as you say has a very week hand . Messi is the GOAT this can only end very badly for Bartomeu and FC Barcelona.

Allegedly it's been confirmed that Messi is set to or has missed first training session with Koeman and that Pep has returned or is in transit back from Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Jorge Messi hasn't yet left Argentina.

None of the parties in Spain seem to know what the real state of play is with his contract so It's probably conjecture from City sources unless our lawyers have been over his paperwork.
