I love this game, and I hate this game. The nerves kicked in days ago, and I have no control of it. Everything has already been said about the Derby, so there is not much more I can add. Apparently we are the underdogs, at least according to the (so called) media experts, and I am happy with that, if I am honest. The win will be so much sweeter!  I had no problem with The Count, but I felt he never quite understood exactly what this game means to City fans, and was always happy to play for a draw.  Pep is different, I think. He wants to win every game, and this is especially true against Maureen. I have no idea how much alcohol I will need to keep the nerves calm on Saturday,  but it won’t be pretty.

COME ON CITY !!!

LFTCU

Referee: Mark Clattenburg
Assistants: J Collin, S Bennett
Fourth official: M Dean

Team Selection

De Gea
Valencia – Bailly – Blind – Shaw
Fellaini/Schneiderlin – Pogba
Mkhitaryan – Rooney – Martial
Ibrahimovic

My Favourite

Ffs, twattenburg.

And the rest…

Rashford won’t start, Martial will still start and I reckon Micky will be the only change in the line up for Mata

First time for a couple of years where I have felt comfortable with the team and that we can actually compete, so looking forward to the game.

If Rooney starts, we’ll lose. We can’t afford to go up against a team that will press like City with him in such a crucial position giving away possession 5-6 times every 45 minutes. They will absolutely rip us through the middle.

If I had been a City-fan, I would have been worried at the idea of John Stones vs Zlatan – esp in the air

I wonder if we’ll go with a three man midfield for this one? Reckon we’ll play ugly this game to frustrate Pep, reckon 2 -1 to us

Mourinho’s way of beating Guardiola teams is to use two defensive midfielders to stop the creativity of their midfielders. They must deny the City midfielders the room to operate and be very disciplined. If Fellaini is out, Schneiderlin will come in. We’ll need pace in wide areas to hit them on the counter attack so that’s why I think Mkhi will play instead of Mata….1-1

Can’t see anything but a score draw

We’ll ‘ave ’em, 3-0

6-0 to them

Not sure whether Jose will decide to give Pogba more freedom and have us playing a 433 or keep things the same. Our three opponents this season have been fairly poor/limited in terms of quality.

We have to win this. Pogba will relish this game and get a goal.

Think they will do us…Would be pleasantly surprised if Mourinho doesn’t play for a draw.

They haven’t looked anything special. Lucky to beat Sunderland and scored two late goals against Stoke. ..Think we’ll try and counter them, but that’s how Mourinho plays.

think we’ll lose tbh, Im still not that impressed with our play so far and this is our first test. Against Guardiola teams, we just wont see a lot of the ball and it’s yet to be seen how clinical and decisive we can be when we do have it. Sterling, Nolito, Aguero, de Bruyne, Silva are all in great form and are going to cause havoc, it sure is going to be interesting.

We’ll murder them.

Definitely a game for the counter. City press so high up the pitch under Pep that it’s essential we break with speed and precision when we win the ball back. With this in mind, Mkhitaryan and Rashford should both start.

It will be our biggest test of course but Citys opponents so far have been nothing short of an embarrassment.

They look fluid in attack, but their defence is garbage. It doesn’t look like they’re playing extreme keep-ball like Pep’s Barca either. There’s a directness about them, so I don’t imagine we’ll be chasing shadows for the majority of the game. I think we’ll see plenty of the ball, and if we go at them, we should definitely score. There’ll be more space in this game because they’re not going to park it like Hull did…Not worried about their press from the front if we start Bailly and Blind with Pogba in midfield. The ball retention between those three is very good. Valencia and Shaw keep the ball very well too. Fairly confident about this one, for a change.

Haven’t been convinced by City at all. Although they were great for the first 20-25 minutes today, they faded and were pretty poor.
United on the other hand have been decent, have been consistent throughout the game, although not as good as City were in the first 25 minutes today. If we can just not concede early in the game, I think we have a great chance…Plus Aguero’s ban is an added plus

City are very vulnerable at the back and I believe we have the defense to cope with their attackers. Nothing is getting past Bailly/Blind City press very high up the pitch so we should be able to hit them on the break. I’m confident we’ll beat them.

United will win this. I’m confident Mourinho will figure out something + I think United’s physicality will be the deciding factor

Very keen for Rashford to feature heavily, ideally start. Him winning us the match at the Etihad a few months ago is fresh in my memory. They even tried to intimidate and he had none of it. He consistently wins us massive games basically. Get him in the mix please Jose

They key to this game is Pogba. If he plays well he can power through their measly defence. They’ve too few defensive players for us not to exploit that. However we play, I fully expect Mourinho to be right. He’s done it before

Mourinho will not want to give their midfield any time…Domination is his word…Carrick/Morgan/Pogba

LOL at all the remarks about City’s rubbish defence.

5 games this season have yielded 3 goals, 1 a soft penalty and WHU had but 1 serious chance yesterday (which they took).

Last year the defence was exposed by little pressing by forwards and midfielders but that has changed greatly this season. Add a hugely impressive start from Stones and it won’t be easy to get at us.

With Aguero out, I’ll be disappointed if we don’t get 3 points here.

United have twice as many players as City on international duty before the derby. I’m more worried about that than whether Aguero plays or not. Will be interesting to see how both teams set up. I’m hoping Mhki, Rashford and Lingard will start and the back four stays the same.

Mourinho doesn’t lose at home. Not with a fully motivated hungry side anyway…We should be putting them away.

0-0…City will dominate possession but do nothing with it.

It’ll be boring as feck unless City get an early goal, bud…Jose parked the bus at the Bridge against VG the season they won the title. He came here and played without a striker against a David Moyes Manchester United…We didn’t play on the front foot against a S’ton team at home. This is a big game, we’ll be parked inside our own half for majority of the game. Jose knows only one way.

City haven’t kept a clean sheet yet. You really think they’ll get their first against us with the attacking options we’ve got?

No Augero is a big advantage…Confident we’ll beat them.

Will still be a difficult game without Aguero. We should go all out for this. Replace Rooney and Fellaini with Micky and Herrera.

Zlatan time

Every time I think of the City match I’m nervous, thinking how are we going to cope with their attack or midfield. Then I remember we have Pogba and Zlatan, then all is well with the world

If Rooney starts, we’ll lose. We can’t afford to go up against a team that will press like City with him in such a crucial position giving away possession 5-6 times every 45 minutes. They will absolutely rip us through the middle.

I hope Clattenburg has one of his good days on the job for this one. Would be a shame if he decides to Clattenburg the derby.

According to Physio Room, Fellani, Mikhi and Shaw are all available on the 10th….which does not mean much. We have seen Lindgard being available for several weeks though his name is no longer on the list.

Gotta admit, the prospect of Rashford with his sheer pace and conviction causing havoc is pretty incredible.

Why is everyone so confident we would beat City? I know we are favourites because we are at home and Aguero is out but I don’t think we will win this. Mourinho has an inferiority complex against Guardiola and the last time we went head to head with City with us both in great form and us as favourites/home, we lost 1-6. I predict a 0-5, 1-5 result to City.

I’ve never been this excited before a United v City game before
