The View From the Away End

MUFC1

I have to work on  Sunday, which never happens, and I don’t think I am sad about it this week. Also, thanks to being a dumb ass, I recently switched to Talk Talk,  which means I can’t record the game or even watch on demand when I get home, so it’s probably going to be MOTD for me. So what of the away fans this week…….It feels like they are caught in a time warp, where they keep repeating the same old nonsense. There are some glimpses of common sense in these comments, but they are few and far between. For example, many of them talk about the Yaya of old, and  not what we have seen recently (not all of them), and apparently if Silva is not playing, we may as well just not turn up and gift them the three points.  I do get these points of view, but you can never tell with the Derby, and especially based on recent games against them at home (and away). I am much more nervous about this one than I have been recently, but I choose to believe that Manuel knows exactly what he is doing and the last week has been part of his master plan to wipe the floor with them on Sunday. I also believe that Elvis never died and the CIA shot Kennedy, so who knows.

Now, COME ON CITY !!!

Team Selection

De Gea
Rafael Smalling Rojo Shaw
Blind
Fellaini Di Maria
Herrera
Rooney Van Persie

My Favourite

We’ll see a much different City on Sunday

And the rest…

Still going to remain cautious. Feel like they’ll be a completely different side against us and will give us a much tougher game.

I think it’ll end 0-0 if we play our strongest team.

City 3-1 Utd.  They’ll bring us back down to earth.

Rooney coming back in, hopefully Herrera starts as well. Think Fellaini will play as he did great today. Hopefully no more injuries between now and then. Want Falcao to play but just not sure who he’d go in for, and I’m not sure if he’ll be fit. Will be a very tight game though, we’ve always been poor there but they aren’t in the greatest of form. Hopefully we get a result

Toure’s going to run through us and score.

Their defense isn’t as good as Chelsea’s but I think Aguero will tear our defense apart throughout the game and bag a goal or two. 2-1 to City. We’ll need Fellaini at his best like today against Chelsea to try to neuter Yaya Toure.

I don’t fear them. They are overrated as hell as a team, just a bunch of good individuals. If we perform like today and with even more confidence after today we will get something from this game imo. Herrera and Rooney back is huge for me, we really missed them today.

Aren’t you the optimist, after watching city against west ham then who knows what will happen. Every team is beatable.  As far as I can guess The only 2 city players that will pose us a problem is Aguero and silva. So far this season city’s midfield and defence has been a little inconsistent especially yaya. We’ll have Rooney back for this and his energy will help no end ..I’ll go 2-2 draw.

Falcao back, Herrera back, Rooney back… We will batter them

City have been poor this season so I don’t see why we can’t go there and get a result. That’s said they always seem to raise there game against us,especially at the Etihad so it going to be very tough.

Rooney and Falcao back will be a huge plus. Should be a very interesting game

If Stoke can do it, so can we.

Rooney in for Mata is the only change I’d make

Hoping Aguero gets banned for this match for the tackle he made on Noble. Also, Rooney will be back for this match. Predicting the line-up for this one is hard. Has Fellaini done enough to keep Herrera out of the starting XI? Carrick and falcao will also be fit. The idea is to crowd the midfield to neutral the threat of Silva and Toure. If one of the strikers is one the bench, then Fellaini to play in midlield and Herrera to play as No.10.

Curious how we lineup for this. Think we can beat them if LVG gets it right tactically actually.

City will be on the absolute top of their game here. Can’t take anything from the West Ham/CSKA performances. Set up solidly and try and hit them on the break

I think we will win convincingly and this will be a turning point in our season.

If this were a home game, I’d be quite confident.
As it is, I think we basically have to score the first goal to get anything from the game. We haven’t been comfortable against City since the Mark Hughes days. However, it’s a completely new midfield today, so maybe we’ll start to have a better foothold of the game. If I was forced to make a bet, I’d go for City to win 3-1.

City will play two up top, so should we. Mata dropped for Rooney

Kompany is always class against us. None of our strikers ever seem to give him a tough time. Toure and Aguero too. Its time for our lads to show the same passion and desire in a derby that City have in the last few years.

This is unacceptable on our part considering we consistently have more English/Manchester born players in our team/squad than they do.

I like Smalling, I think he can handle Aguero.

No idea how this will go.  Really depends on how both teams turn up on the day I think. I know that sounds bleeding obvious but I just think United could put out a side that could win and also that same side could get hammered depending on how they go about it. Logically, City will be winning it. Probably comfortably. Hopefully we are competitive in comparison to last season’s nightmare.

Moscow scored 2 against City and so did West Ham, we’re more then capable of matching that and bettering it. Need to keep tight at the back and we could win a high scoring thriller.

I don’t think there are any mind games here, if what we’ve seen from LvG so far is any indication, he says it like it is. There’s a good chance we’ll go into the game without both Rooney and Jones. It was good to see RvP look a lot like his earlier self last game, we’ll need more from him again. Herrera will be a useful addition to the squad. We need his energy and intelligent reading of the game to stop the City midfield from dominating. Fellaini had a big game against City and we need another big performance from him to keep Yaya Toure in check.

The 2 Manc teams are kinda similar. A slightly inconsistence defence and a brilliant attack. I’d actually rate our midfield as good as theirs based on the last couple games, but then they have been underperforming. So would like to think we’re in for goals galore.

After the Chelsea match I’m weirdly confident. But maybe that’s not good, every time I’m confident recently we lose. But this is more of a cautious confidence I guess.

To me it’s not really important if Falcao is ready or not for this game.  I mean that Falcao or RVP, we must play with one striker in this kind of game in order to be more balanced thought the midfield. Falcao could have come to help/replace RVP at the 60th min, but even if he’s fit, LVG will play the big game in 4-1-4-1. I’m more concern about Rooney, his ability to find good passes and especially his work rate. He could have been very good in this game if fit. We can probably promote Fellaini as the number 10 and include Herrera in the starting 11 if fit, that would suit me more than having Mata

Pretty sure Rooney will be available.  1-2 last minute winner from Falcao

If Aguero is similar to how he was vs Tottenham we’ll need to be better at the back than we have in any other game this season. Big game all round, let hope RVP is confident and Di Maria shows his full compliment.

Haven’t won away from home yet, what are the chances we finally do it against city? Unlikely I feel, 3-1 city I think! I’d love a draw!

Gonna predict a bloodbath in goals and cards. 3-4 for us with 2 red cards and at least 5 yellows. Stunning header by Falcao in the 84th minute to get us ahead.

Should be a fantastic game, especially if Rooney, Falcao, and Herrera can be involved.

I’m guessing 3-2 United with a healthy squad.

Huge match for Fellaini. Two very good shows in a row from him for the first time, and he’s coming up against an inconsistent beast in Yaya in our biggest match of the season so far. Hopefully he’ll take the confidence from his last two performances and batter the crap out of Toure. I would love to see that. If Toure dominates then City will win. Come on Fellaini you big haired sh**bag!

Falcao up against Mangala could be tasty.

Can we please just play the same back 4 in consecutive games? – most other teams manage it but we seem to struggle to keep 4 defenders fit for two games in a row.

Rooney being injured would be ridiculously annoying, however after watching the MNF analysis of the Chelsea game it was clear to see the tactical job Mata had, and he carried it out very well. I wonder how Rooney will handle having to be tactically disciplined in these big games. He has a tendency when we are chasing a game to run all over and chase every lost cause, sometimes to the detriment of the teams shape. Remember the games vs Madrid 2 seasons ago Fergie picked Welbeck to man mark Xabi Alonso over Rooney. Mata won’t get any credit because he didn’t get a goal or assist but both he and Fellaini did a good job nullifying Fabregas and Matic (Fellaini more robustly than Mata, obviously). Fabregas completed just 5 passes in the first half. If Rooney is fit though, he should and will start, but it’ll be interesting to see how he performs in what is likely to be another very tactical game

An entertaining draw will do me fine. Aguero scoring a late-ish goal, but only for Di Maria to score an even later goal to make it 2-2 final score.

I don’t think Januzaj will play. I think LVG will protect him a bit and play him as a starter only in home games. He has a long career ahead of him and I think there’s no rush to play him so often as well.

We can beat these.

I can’t see anything other than a City win, if i’m honest. Our record away from home isn’t good, and City’s at home is excellent. The odds are stacked against us, and for a good reason. But we do have a team brimming with attacking talent. Players capable of heroics. We’re not West Brom or Hull. So a win isn’t totally of the question.

Games like this are why being a football fan is so brilliant though.

We’ll beat them and go back to winning ways

we are playing well. Should have won last Sunday. We have an excellent chance to win this match

Post NCFC game…

MUFC3

That was a bad result for us not a cat in hells chance that they’ll lose three on the bounce, two at home!

COME ON YOU GEORDIE LADS!!

If Silva is out for the derby on Sunday then Thank you BasedGod Taylor! Silva is a Brilliant player though, and he scares the feck out of me, so hope recovers fairy quickly, but not in time for the Derby of course!

After watching City against West Ham and now against Newcastle, I’m confident we’ll get a result.  3-1 United (ADM, Rooney, Fellaini) Oh and Mangala will get a red.

We’ll nick this 1-2 and City will have a new manager before Christmas..ah just like old times

Going to be keeping an eye out all week on any news of David Silva’s injury. He makes them tick, if he’s out, we’ve got a decent chance to steal the points. Hope Mangala starts also, he looks such a raw footballer. So rash and there’s mistakes in him.

City are very strong at home and have you seen the state of our defence ?

So strong at home Newcastle put two past them.

So they’ve conceded 2 against Moscow, WHU and now Newcastle. Now I know they didn’t have Zaba or Flappy Gums Kompany tonight, but they did play against Moscow and WHU.

If silva is too miss out on Sunday, we have a good chance and we have to take advantage. Their defence is also shaky.

Could be our best chance to beat them, though, especially if Silva is out. But I don’t see them losing three games in a row. I hope I’m wrong about that.

I hope they’re as shit on Sunday as they were tonight. We’ll probably dick them by 5 if so.

Silva will play this weekend. As we’ve seen the last few seasons with Kompany and Aguero, no badly how injured they are before the Derby they’ll always seemingly be ready in time to play it. Even if it does mean they usually pick up another injury a week later.

In these kind of games the form book goes out the window. Make no mistake, even if silva is out, they will be bang up for it. I would take a point and run with it.

Not really that confident as City have our number. They just know how to grind us down and beat us.

Bring it on! C’mon United go for it! Make us all in United family happy on sunday!

I hope our players have more confidence than some of the posters in this thread.

Van Gaal is a great motivator. Imagine how some of them feel after last weeks surge in the last 20 mins. I imagine they’re high on it.

A lot here are saying they’ll be up for it. But so will we. And they’re conceding stupid sloppy goals , kinda like us.
If we play to the standard we played last week, we’ll be fine. I don’t think Silva will play though.

Rooney plays we have a chance, he doesn’t and I can’t see anything less than a loss here. We will take some confidence into the game but think City will be too much, Silva injured or not

Im only negative as our away form has been awful this season so far. Hopefully that will change on Sunday. Form goes out the window in derbies

I can’t believe some of the stuff I’m reading here. How can anyone not have any optimism when City have just had back to back losses against average sides? That along with, Silva injured, a sloppy defense, off form Yaya. How can City be too much for us? They are arguably a worse side than Chelsea. We on the other hand, have just come off a convincing performance against the champions elect with many crucial players missing. City are simply not all that. Having said that, I hope we batter them 4-1

There could well be a shed load of goals in this, but I’m more confident than I have been for a while against City. Reckon we will do em 3-1.

Rooney being back will provide some added physicality to our midfield which may enable Herrera to come in with him being more dynamic and a better passer than Fellaini.
Hope Falcao is fit enough for the bench. And as people have said if Silva is out that makes Blinds job easier in DM.
The big worry is Aguero vs our CBs however. The guy is probably the best striker in the world.

Don’t say champions elect. Not yet. The thought of people giving Chelsea the title in October makes me sick in my mouth a little bit.

Sounds like City are proper reeling. If we beat them this weekend, you can bet there will be serious questions asked about Pelegrini.

The crowd will play a massive part in it for them, grant it I haven’t seen their last 3 games my guess is that they’ve had little or no support there. Moscow because of the ban, West Ham because of the distance to travel and tonight because of the occasion. The only time they sell out the Etihad is when we visit and their hatred for us always has them in fine voice.

I still reckon they’ll raise their game and give us what’s becoming the traditional season hammering, but hopefully they’ll be as shit as their fans think they are.

No way we’ll take anything from this. A quick reminder by Pellegrini to his team that they’re the champions and they’ve lost the last 2 games should be enough to get them to perform. If they are to lose this game they are pretty much psychologically buried.

I think United’s best chance will lie in getting at City’s backline. Mangala hasn’t found his feet in this league yet and continues to look dodgy. City have no top level left backs either and coincidentally they play on the same side. This might be the game to play a more attacking style, especially as City don’t have a lot of players firing on all cylinders for them this season, except maybe Aguero and Silva.

We can beat these feckin mugs, stick Fellaini on Toure as nearly every thing goes through him, United to win 1-0

Now watch City either continue their slump or spectacularly break out of it.

I am really up for this game..if we can get in City players faces and keep Aguero quiet we can win this one. Tired of being negative, since last year just felt negative in all big games. But not anymore, LVG is a big game manager and the team has been playing well generally.

City will raise their game? They’re champions who are mostly good or very good with the odd blip. The raised game argument is really only relevant when discussing a lesser team giving a bigger side a good game. Not really something that fits City’s current situation.

I think we would be silly to play one front man against City, Kompany will love that, we need to expose the weakness of Mangala/Clichy and the space in between them, Toure/Fernando will thrive on a 2 man midfield also, a 3 of Herrera/Fellaini/Blind will cause Toure not to get forward as much I feel, and make him work, which he hates, he likes to just pick up the ball and do what he wants, he is not the best defensivley IMO

Eesh. All the papers are filling up with articles about how City aren’t looking bothered this season and we’re perfectly poised to turn them over at home…This won’t end well…

With Silva out, we should play 4-1-4-1, two wingers to prevent their attack on the flank. Fellaini to mark Toure. Rooney to support Rvp upfront.

Its about time City came into a derby minus a key player, I dont think they have ever had an injury to a key player in the derby since the oil money

Looking forward to this game, but feel like City’s shit run and their injuries are lulling us into a false sense of security. As long as we keep up the improvements, no sloppy passing and defending as a unit, we should be ok, but City have enough experience of battering us in the last couple seasons to make this too close to call. Either way, cannot wait till Sunday.

Who is the ref for this game?

David Silva out of the match.

Is Silva out then?
