The View from the Home Fans

Postby CuteMancs » Tue Dec 17, 2019 5:14 pm

Got to admit I haven’t really thought about Oxford since the last time we played them. There is no VAR for this one, so let’s see how that goes. I know it’s childish but I have been smiling all day that they have Long Dickie in the back four

COME ON CITY!!!

Referee: Andrew Madley
Assistants: Scott Ledger and Darren Cann
Fourth Official: Andre Marriner

Team Selection

Eastwood
Long Dickie Mous Ruffels
Gorrin
Henry Brannagan Fosu
Mackie
Taylor

And the rest…

What if we were seriously going to try to beat them, how do you do it?

Give them a good old Division 3 kicking...Bring back Briggsy & Shotton and a few others for a game…In reality... a good bit of "shithousery" and let them know we are there mixed with our normal flowing game and some crossed fingers that it bounces of someone’s backside and goes in.

I would say kick the s**t out of there superstars grab a couple of goals when we get chance and defend for our lives they are beatable Wigan done it a couple of years ago so why can’t we

I am looking forward to the game, but if I am being honest the Wycombe game on the following Saturday is massive for us ,it will be interesting what team we put out.

I thoroughly despise this "what team we put out". Its their JOB for which they get paid well, best team we can. Period. Both games. If they can`t "work" for 4 hours a week feckin sack `em !

Wigan knocked them out of the cup, when they were a Lge one club.

The city game is a free hit and chance for us to get some exposure. They are beatable. Occasionally. I think it’s more a case of if they turn up. If they do, we’ll do well to keep the scoreline acceptable. If they don’t, and we are set up to hit them on the counter attack, and a couple of our better players have great games and we get the bounce of the ball then why not?

Score first, but do so in the 89th minute.

I’d sooner get to tonked going for it, rather than go for damage limitation. But I’m not sure Karl will look at it that way…Not good reading on the CV.

It's easy!! …Look at the colour of the shirts of the two teams who have beaten them this year!!

Make them park their team bus more than 5 feet from the entrance and not let them move it, we know that will freak them out.

Just get right into their faces and go for it as we have nothing to lose! …A couple of early robust tackles as well.

I think some shithousing and robust (but L1-fair) challenges early on might help. My biggest fear in this kind of game is the last half hour. OUFC have to reserve some concentration and energy for the end of the game or could get taken apart at the end.

Hopefully it will be pissing down with torrential rain, sleet and snow plus a force hurricane gale blowing in from the fence end. Making sure the sprinklers are on maximum velocity before the match and at half time.

Defensively, they are a bit of mess. One for Mackie and Taylor to get about them. With the Xmas period, they could put a weaker team out due to higher priorities.

We just need to play like liverpool did today and hope the referees on our side.

Hope Clownio Bravo is on goal and they play Stones and Otamendi together. What Mackie and Taylor could do to those two. Nightmare on Grenoble Road springs to mind.

I think we're a far better side this year than last year and the 0-3 was a respectful score. City looked to me last year, that they could at any point have turned up the pressure and scored a hatful. So I hope for this game that City are looking ok in the league before we play them, because we don't need their players looking to prove a point to Pep.

Basically we have to play absolutely out of our skins and City have to have a really, really, REALLY bad day at the office.

Why did Wigan play out of there skin to beat city this season city are abit of a weaker animal there defence is dodgy they might not have there best gk so we just play are game rough them up abit and we will win

I think the best chance of beating City will be to play 5 at the back, pack the midfield with 4 sitting deep and 3 pushing forward, and a front 4…And 2 keepers, definitely 2 keepers.

ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK

Aguero will hopefully still be injured. Just need a few more of their players to pick up some knocks. City are beatable on current form.

City will be more worried of us beating them than we are of them beating us we need to play like a lg 1 team and hit them hard there not that great this season pep is starting to burn out but as someone says they could beat us 7-0 or more if they wanted to.

They didnt look that good against the geordies and you can bet your bottom dollar kdb or sterling wont feature against us. Their defence is not that strong atm.
They're not the team they were last time we played them. I think we can realistically score against them and then who knows.

Think the crowd need to be on their "A" game, a (relatively) tighter ground than they are used too, full to the brim creating a lively atmosphere against a slightly weaker, mentally fragile City team on a cold, dark frosty night game. Early goal for us...anything could happen.

It would be good to get a goal, even if it's only to break our scoreless streak and get a bit of confidence in front of goal ahead of Saturday.

bit of turmoil at Citeh behind the scenes, with Arsenal sniffing round their assistant coach, if KR can get the team to play the way we were a or so ago theres a distinct possibility of an upset...late 1-0 smash and grab win, Ruffles grabbing the glory

Let's be realistic here. If it's 0-2 or better I'd be ecstatic.

They seem to be on a different planet but we'll see.

Bravo, Stones and Otamendi are not the same playing against Oxford as against liverpool IMHO

If Oxford gets the weather we've got here you can forget any football
