At the moment Fernadinho seems the choice but whatever Pep says you cant rule out a dive in the transfer market for say Koulibaly. Cancelo is defensively sounder than Walker imo. That leaves Left Back our big weakness. Can Mendy show us why we paid all that money. Angelino certainly wont play so if not Mendy it would be Zinchenko. Just not sure about him defensively. We certainly are good enough to get through this draw. Promised a ticket for the home tie already. Cant wait.

Just when you think Mendy might be doing OK he goes and gives it away again. And then again! None of the 3 can defend, unfortunately.

I see the home tie is March 17, not March 10 see Club website.

Any chance we will get impartial officiating?

Biggest tie of the round that we should all be up for.

No chance. Zero chance of not having another VAR Moment.

This is why I hate drawing one of the so-called Royalty. It's not just 2 teams fighting it out, it's 2 teams with one getting the benefits from their cartel minions.

We'll wait and see as I think with the injuries to return that we've got a very good chance.

So in the CL we have Madrid. The royal variety.

Can we win? Yes of course we can, we are as good as anyone on our day
Will we win? If we keep a clean sheet at home then we have a great chance
Am I bothered? Not as much as I should be. It just doesn’t have the same credence as domestic football for me. I will want us to win, of course, but won’t be as disappointed to not win this as I will be not to win the PL

I'll be honest and say that I put this above the PL, at the moment. Nothing to do with pur current position but more to do with this bollox of having to have won it to actually get any credit. It would be good to see how the media react and how we would be hailed as the best team in Europe, probably the world.

I want this.

Not sure about that. Atletico have been well below their standard this season; there's even been talk of sacking Simeone

Pep probably doesn't have much love for Madrid. In fact he hates them. So I expect him to be really up for it and have the players well up for it as well.
Given current circumstances and their recent history in the competition Real will be seen as favourites. Thats better for us I feel.
In many ways it's the perfect tie for us. We've nothing to loose.

I agree with Beefy. I want the CL to shut these fuckers up. Beating Madrid would give us real confidence.

The club are going all out to win the CL this year.
It is the only priority for us - you can see it in our PL performances, the way the intensity has dropped, etc...
These two games come in the middle of a really tough PL schedule - watch our lineups - CL will be priority 1.

We have a great chance - even with VAR
We are still favs with the bookies, I would expect our odds to lengthen. When they do I am putting a fair sized bet down.

it's almost a blessing that the league's gone now. Imagine those fixtures if we were level with Liverpool.

Focus should be solely on the CL going forward.

The home CL match is on March 17 not March 10. It will be three days after the home match against Burnley. No travelling. Of course not ideal but mid week CL ties never are. You hope for a comfortable Saturday match, take off a couple after 60 minutes etc.
