Yep, unnecessary too, he was going nowhere, daft challenge.

It was a penalty as soon as Bernardo decided to tackle from the wrong side and never got the ball. Anyone who thinks it wasn't must be deluded or don't understand the laws of the game.

The one thing that irked me was why a yellow? Is VAR now deciding when yellow cards should be given?I wouldn't mind if he was denying a goalscoring opportunity but he wasn't.

Think I started a thread on why we should have bought him last season , nearly all the armchair cunts on here didn't agree and thought he was shit ? Top top defender and would have fitted in perfectly for us , only 21 /22 years of age aswell I think ? Now where is that thread .................. :D

Every time I've seen him play he's been awful. Giving the ball away, making rash tackles. I'm glad we didn't go for him. Luke Shaw MK2.

He's good at defending, that's about it.

I remember watching them against Wolves and he was getting skinned. The last time he just booted the attacker because he couldn't handle him.

When I've seen him he's been good defensively, his timing seems spot on when he's tackling. It's when the ball is at his feet that he's found wanting, he couldn't pass wind and that's why he wouldn't be a good fit for us.

VAR/Cheating is one of many issues. And it is real, very real.
But to lay the majority of our woes at the door of VAR/cheating is just not correct.

I blame a combination of,
VAR/Cheating.
Injuries to key players.
Loss of leaders from the squad.
Failure to buy a CB in the summer.
Wear and tear from last 2 seasons.
Related to the above, players now in erratic form, good one day shite the next, inconsistency.
Left back position 4 years on still a problem.
Too many mistakes too often by the manager.

On a micro level there are other issues. But the above are the main ones.

It was a penalty. No doubt. Like a fair few we didn't get after VAR had worked it's magic. Bournemouth, Candlepool and, oh, later in the Rags game spring immediately to mind.

That's VAR working exactly as they wanted it to......

Just picking up on some smoke about Pep, if he has 18 months left with us. Will we give him a blank cheque, or will he leave sooner? I think end of season is goodbye.

The rebuild in who's eyes, Pep for a year or so or the club who plan longer than that mate. I feel we are closer to Pep going and the next phase starting sooner rather than later.

Has anybody got any thoughts on the news Pep has a break out clause in his contract? Martin Samuel reveals this in the mail today, he is usually accurate with his reports. It looks like Pep can take a twelve month sabbatical if he feels it necessary!

Can't see him going this summer. He's always seen out his contracts and then gone.
He signed an extension until the end of next season, that's when i reckon he'll go unless we can persuade him to sign a new contract probably by the end of this season.
We should be very careful what we wish for. Mancini totally lost the dressing room and the state of us in Pellers last season scraping into the Champs League in 4th place on goal difference with 67 points i think it was. He had a great 1st year and went progressively worse.
Who are the great managers out there, Chelsea went for Lampard who didn't get Derby up, Rags - less said the better since Fergie. Arsenal - couldn't wait to get rid of Wenger and backwards since, Poch, never won anything, Ancelloti - terrible the last 2 years, Real Madrid, had to get Zidane back, Simeone, dead defensive and can't wait to slag us off.
Yes, Pep is stubborn and we all agree he should play Foden a lot more but we've been totally spoilt the last 2 years.

Exactly.
The club is structured (in all aspects) for sustainability (holistic?)
The club is not Pep centric, Pep fits the club's vision.
When Pep moves on the transition to the next manager will be smooth.

I said at the time that it was a penalty but the decision wouldn't be changed by VAR just like the midweek game where Van Dyke did exactly the same.

They're seriously taking the piss.

I think they took the piss last season also, but we had the hunger to prove them wrong. Last season we fought the system and even bent like it was, we still managed to pull it together.
This season it's like we gave up.

The players are downing tools because we're constantly fucked over by refs and VAR I'd like them to come out and say it, so that fans that pay to go and watch them can stop until they're arsed again
