Playing around at the back until we fook up and then hopefully hoof it out !
At least joe saved everybodies time hoofin' it up and saving all that running about in triangles shit.
Pep needs a big kick up the arse for doing what he did to the defense.
The point is with me, if all this messing around at the back, running about in triangles shit is a very good description, actually had any benefit or end product, if it actually gave us any advantage, then I wouldn't mind the experimenting too much.
But I can't see for the life of me what the idea is, and certainly don't see any benefits, we may as well just hoof it to the midfield and cut the defensive arsing around out altogether.
It's a bit more involved than that though isn't it.
Firstly, passing it around at the back should tire out the opponents forwards for as long as they press. When they give up pressing then we can pick our passes and move forward.
Secondly, for as long as the opponents press, passing it around at the back will open up the midfield, especially so if the wingers and fullbacks move out wide. Ideally, the goalkeeper can eventually pass to one of our midfielders standing alone in the centre circle, or Kolarov can do one of his long cross-field passes, and we've got a fast breakaway going, what with the wide wingers and the other forward players.
The above is all very well as long as we pass the ball around well. When we don't, then someone has to hoof it or be closed down or, even worse, give possession away. And if we pass straight to an attacker then we are really open to conceding a goal.
That's all very obvious but the point is: done well it can get us goals, done badly we can easily concede. At the moment I don't think we're doing it terribly well; better than when we first started, or rather when teams first started to press us in earnest, but not as well as could be done. When Bravo is in goal, giving the ball away so close to goal with our defence so spread out is just plain suicidal and I don't see that he offers anything more in the risks/benefits stakes in that area of the game than Caballero does because at least Caballero can save a shot or two from going in when we fuck up with this passing around shit.
