That is absolutely ridiculous. There have been some well justified critism on his tactics on saturday but one thing he certainly DID make right was to take Robinho off. I love his mercurial talent as much as the next man but he was completely and absolutely fucking useless against Everton.

In fact, many people in match thread were saying that he should've thrown Benjani in instead of Robinho. He efectively noticed his mistakes and more or less did what people were asking for.

He reacted wrongly in the first place and then too late. Many people could see Benji was the right change for RSC but the chosen one couldn't.Doesn't matter what his reasonning was that he might have wanted to give Robbie a chance the fact is he got it wrong.
The fact we lost also backs up the fact he got it wrong.

I agree completely.

I think Rag Hater is a supporter of the brazil national side and not out and out city, because I've noticed anyone that points out a flaw in a brazilian's play, including the city manager gets put down from that point on.

Taking Robinho off was one of the very few things I think Mancini got right on Saturday. In fact, nobody in the studio or in the pub I was sitting in for that matter, thought it was the wrong thing to do.

The player has become annonymous for sometime. Good move Mancini.

So basically you are saying that playing Robinho in the first place was a mistake? That I can maybe agree with.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Well if he is so bad and you can see it why couldn't Mancini.
I'm saying if he is gonna put Robbie on he should let him play.
Obviously owning upto his own mistake if he has to take Robbie off.
I'm saying taking Robbie off was one of the many mistakes he made that day.Maybe his wife didnt service him in the morning and he took it out on Robbie.

He can now. He could by the second half.

This is a learning curve for Mancini and I think he would be unlikely to make the same mistake twice - three times if you count the Stoke game.

Whether bringing him on or taking him off was the mistake the fact of the matter is that a mistake was made.
And for someone who has spent all week assessing the quality of a certain player for him to decide halfway through a match that he has made the wrong decision is somewhat flawed,to my thinking.I'm sure he knew what he was getting when he put Robbie on and then to decide halfway through a game that that was the wrong decision seems somewhat of a bad decision, to me.

correct you there.
Roberto didn't believe he made the wrong decision bringing him on. No evidence of that.
However he wanted to bring Shaun on and of the players on the park at that time, the one he thought most appropriate to bring off was Robson.
Never criticise a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.
That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away.
And you'll have his shoes.

And bringing Shaun on had little or no effect.
We still went on to lose and he didn't bring us more into the game by scoring or anything.

Nope.

It was the most obvious substitutionI've seen all season.

The mistake was bringing him on in the first place.

I think he gave him a chance to show he can do it. He failed to take the chance, big style, kudos to mancini for bringing him off.

I don't need to stare down the loo for 52 minutes to decide to flush a turd away. 52 minutes of that was more than enough.

I should hope you would know what a turd is before looking in the loo.Surely you can recognise a turd wherever it is.
If he is that shit whats he doing on the bench. Why didnt he put SWP on straight away or Benji whose been close to MOM in the past two games he has played. Why didnt Wiess have Robsons place if he is such a turd.
I think he knew the game was lost through his bad preparation and tactics .For me it looked like he'd show how big his bollocks are by subbing Robson. It was nothing more than pandering to the mob.

Robinho is not a turd nor is he a shite player. That he has lost form (or interest depending on which axe you want to grind) is self evident but he is still a very talented player. Losing RSC and the gameplan for the match in the first few minutes left Mancini with two simple choices. Bring on like for like with Benjani or gamble and turn to Robinho and say ok you're the man get out there and show me what you can do. He gambled and he, Robbie and the rest of us lost.

The significance of pulling Robbie off will not be lost on the players nor on Robbie himself. It tells the rest of the squad that if you thought there were any favourites at the club then think again. In a sense Mancini was grandstanding but psychologically it was shrewd move as it lays down some very simple messages 1) You don't perform week in, week out then you will be dropped or replaced no matter who you are and 2) yes I do have the backing of ADUG/Sheikh Mansour in case you were wondering.

The other aspect of Mancini is that he said at the conference that the team (not just Robbie) did not perform and included himself within that ("the players, myself"). For me it easier to respect people who don't hide or blame everyone but themselves. Hughes wanted to create a 'no excuses' culture which is something I applaud except Hughes never included himself which pretty much summed up Hughes.

Mancini is a much more self-confident personality and will gamble more when it comes to tactics and team lineups. Some will work and some will go badly wrong. It happens and as you lot seemed to love yakking for ever about this tactical stuff it will keep you going for months :)

For me its a lot simpler. Sometimes you get stuffed by the better team because our lot didn't turn up. What Mancini has to do is make sure the team always turns up especially away from home. Under Hughes in 18 months we won won what 4, 5 away games? That is a an appalling record and the mentality that produced that needs to be addressed. Mind you in 5 games under Mancini he has reached 50% of the number of away games won by Hughes so I am optimistic!

We've established that putting Robinho on in the first place was a mistake. He has too, that's why he took him off. He was fucking DREADFUL and the world could see it mate.

I agree with you in that half the reason we lost the game was because of his tactics and set-up. The other half was the performance of the players, of which Robinho was the worst.

Now I don't have the inside information you have about Mancini and the Sheikh being "friends". From what I could gather, he has only met Khaldoon and when he asked at his press conference if he met the Sheikh, I believe he thought he was asked if he met Khaldoon and he answered "yes, in London".

I find it hard to believe our owner was in London and didn't pop up to see us... but even if thats true, then he has met Mancini ONCE. That hardly constitutes a friendship.

You seem to want to go to great lengths to tell us Robinho deserves his place in the starting line-up... even intimating that Mancini only took him off to show off. Now he may have got things wrong in that game but taking Robinho off was not one of them. Absolutely not.

Oh and that "mob" you refer to are City fans. By all means stick up for a player you clearly think is one of the best in the world, but I believe its a dangerous path you're going down making digs at city fans and the city manager to help your defence.

You are a city fan after all, right?

Dude, I was making an analogy,I am not calling robinhio a turd, I am saying his performance was shite and it did not take 52 minutes to spot that......

I find the bit about "getting away with stunts like that interesting" why should he not be able to take robinhio off he is playing shite -Does robinhio have a god given right to play every match regardless of how mediocre his performance is?? Robinhio did not choose to have 32M spent on him, people have used that as a stick to beat him, its not his fault, but he has neogitated one of the if not ht ebiggest salaries in our squa if not the prem, he needs to justify that expenditure. He has not. We have seen a few flashes of brilliance - the chipped goal v the gooners the prime example but he has gone missing in the big matches, in my mind that does not give him right to be an ever present in the team.

52 mins doesn't strike me as being enough as I think he had done as much as the rest of the team. The whole team was playing as bad as Robson or worse.I think Mancini only subbed him because it would deflect scrutiny from the mistakes he had made.Robinho doesn't have a given right to start every game but I think there were players who were worse than him agaist the toffees.
Last year he justified his wages and this year has had very little chance and when he has started IMO he has been worth what he is costing us.
Gone missing in big matches is also another myth I'm not goin for either.
Every club he has been at he has won things by being part of the team and contributing.
He has the winning mentality and to me he appears to put in plenty of effort.
He has not been a passenger and used other players to achieve his success.

I reckon him being friends with the Sheikh knows he can get away with stunts like that.

He has not been a passenger and used other players to achieve his success.[/quote]

Flat earth society springs to mind. I can see I'm wasting my time.
"Twas Derby day the scores were level,
Then Foe whacked the ball to Neville,
Gary messed up and now knows for sure,
If you feed the Goat then he will score!
