I think they will be accepting of writing the season off in terms of a CL place as the project is a long term one and this will be a mere bump in the road towards that. If indeed we end up in the Europa league then so be it. Hopefully any players still here will then bust a gut to return to the CL. It isn't ideal, but that is sport. It is unpredictable. I mean, who would have bet on Chelsea, City, Liverpool and possibly rags all finishing outside of top 4 and Leicester, spuds and West Ham being in it?!

Second half was better in terms of energy but the lack of chances and goals had to be a concern for the remainder of the season. Bony is literally out of his depth. Diaz from the under 18s would not perform as badly. MDM is a disaster waiting to happen. Silva, sadly, is a shadow of his former self. There are no runners from midfield. We have forgotten how to cross the ball and make runs in the box.

He was the captain under Mancini when they down tools against Southampton (one of the signs that all wasn't well between players and current manager) and hasn't been too convincing since in Kompany's frequent absences.
