what would have been a real joke is if we had spent upwards of 25M on the guy.
how funny would that have been?

What's really funny is how some people actually thought we had offered him contract for 14m. Hilarious.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

The whole Veron affair was a bit bizarre but then I turned on Sunday Supplement to hear that we had splashed out £10m on Vieira. Which was odd as I thought he was on a free and its only a 6 month contract which even on the alleged £140k a week is no where near that figure, assuming that he is on a £140k a week in the first place.
Still I guess not much is happening elsewhere so pumping up the Vieira signing with the Veron bit as a tasty sidedish is to be expected. Interestingly the others on SS thought the Vieira siging a good move and Vieira talking about winning the title gave the idea credence in their eyes. Now if Vieira has that level of impact on the cynical hacks of the fifth estate it will be fascinating to see the impact he has on the dressing room.
The best bit was Custis who has a bit of a downer on Bobby (Custis seems to have a thing for Hughsie) saying how much Bobby went down in everyone's eyes by his appearance at the presser. At this point the wife almost choked on her toast and jam as she loved Bobby's casual look with a hint of stubble and those warm seductive eyes (her words) and mischievous smile and just look at that fat ugly tosser anyway (I acually thought she meant me at this point but it was Custis copping the flak). Actually the wife has missed Jose so Bobby is filling a bit of a void in her dressing room fantasies.

You're dead right, sure some people just wouldn't shut up when the press told us Bellamy cost £14m. Remember that one buddy??!
Anyone who listens to the press when it comes to transfer fees and wages needs their head checked. I just knew something had been said to Veron and Mancini has now admitted it. Albeit "a joke" it was enough to enable Veron to go and blab to the press and let the world think we were muppets. It looks like the man Mancini has now let the world know it was never gonna happen which I'm happy about!
Veron.... pffft.

Errrr.... to my knowledge that's the price we paid for him. Soccerbase seems to agree with me (Link below). Wikipedia goes on to quote 19m but also Hughes mentioning that 19m isn't really right, so you'd assume 14m is quite close.

No, Hughes said £14m wasn't right.
We'll have to wait until the actual figures come out but I reckon it was a lot closer to £10m. Care for a wager???

Believe it or not but I'm not on line all the time.
Where are you going to get "actual figures"?
