Abit fast ey?

everytime it changes, I change it back

There's only one problem, Vieira never played with Adebayor at Arsenal. Vieira left in 2005 and Ade signed for Arsenal in January 2006.

Love Vieria's gritty style of play, but 140k is a tad expensive for a 33 year old player.... but hey it ain't my money.

I am really getting to respect our owners a lot more, when the C.P.A's meet with them at the end of every fiscal year; it must getting interesting!!

Well it's deffo a done deal

I’ll prove I’m still a great at Man City, says Vieira

FRANCE legend Patrick Vieira has vowed to show he is still one of the best midfielders in the world by playing a starring role for Manchester City.

The Inter Milan enforcer, 33, flew to England yesterday to undergo a medical and put the finishing touches to a deal set to be for an initial six months.

City boss Roberto Mancini, who signed Vieira for Inter in his last job, is hoping the former Arsenal captain will help push the ambitious Eastlands outfit into the top four.

Vieira, meanwhile, is eager to repay Mancini’s faith and find the form needed to earn a recall to the France squad for this summer’s World Cup in South Africa.

“I want to go to the World Cup and I need playing time,” said Vieira, who fell down the pecking order at Inter after Jose Mourinho replaced Mancini as manager.

“It’s over, after a year in Turin [with Juventus] and three-and-a-half years in Milan. I have objectives and I can’t achieve them by staying at Inter where I am not part of the coach’s choice.

“What is important for me is to go to Manchester City, to show the coach that I am the same as I was during the period when he was at Inter. All this will help me get into the France team.”

Vieira’s signing is expected to be confirmed today and is likely to mark the start of another busy spell in the transfer market for super-rich City, who are owned by Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Mansour. Argentina left-back Cristian Ansaldi, currently of Russia’s Rubin Kazan, is tipped to be the next arrival for around £4m.

Gutted for him only getting that much

He deserves a year or two on that money just on the basis of how fucking good he WAS.

I look forward to him earning his money - I think he will, without doubt.

I'm gutted i'm not there on Monday, I have to go fucking Newcastle and first game I missed all season, and the Mrs gets to take the little Blackburn fan city ST holder (for those who have seen my previous posts) to the game.

Hopefully a 5.0 will sort the little bugger out, he is already playing FIFA with CITY so hopefully wont be long

It's interesting how Vieira fits into (and explains) our transfer strategy.

He's clearly (if he signs) going to be on an unsustainable amount of money and if he were a long term signing he would cause real problems with the UEFA proposals. But instead he's coming here for more of a "smash and grab" operation.

Get in, get us into the CL (and maybe even a season with us there) and get out before our wage bill for stability purposes goes through the roof. At the same time we give him a better chance of going to the World Cup.

Well, first of all. Isn't the reported 140k a week pure speculation?

I think that is close to the mark

I posted about a year ago the need for us to have some form of pay structure that will ensure that players at all levels know what they can expect but one that will be sustainable - without it the club will be involved in some free-for-all in a continuous round of negotiations with agents - with everyone being moved up the to highest earner - and these bands need to be performance / results related and kept away from the press if poss

Example:

Tier 1 - £180k

This means that all top players in the world know that they can earn more at CITY than anywhere else and certainly in the prem - I would expect from our current playing squad none are on this level

Tier 2 - £150k

This allows us to bring in top players but still leave a little room for the cream - I would expect only Tevez and Robinho to be on this level from our current squad

Tier 3 - £120k

Solid 1st teamers although not world stars - I would expect the likes of Barry, Ade and Toure to be at this level

Tier 4 - £100k

Good 1st teamers but probably in and out - I would expect the like of Bellers, Given, de Jong, Bridge, Lescott and RSC to be at this level

Tier 5 - 75k

Really good squad players - such as Zab, Kompany and also emerging top talents that should be rewarded - such as Ireland, SWP

Tier 6 - 50k

Next level squad players - such as Petrov and Richards

Tier 7 - 25k

Tier 8 - 15k

These 2 for emerging youth players that are coming through - this puts them on a major salary but in the knowledge that there are many rungs ahead of them if they can improve and improve

Done right - this type of salary structure will allow the club (not the agents) to control things - allow the club to attract the best, allow the club to attract and retain the world's best youth and fit within the level associated to our revenue under the Platini rules

It also moves us towards being sustainable

Next level squad players

Ronky baby - make no mistake, this is about the next 4 months, a big drive, nothing else. We needed to give him 18 months contract to get him, but if he plays well enough to be in the team next season, it will be a bonus. As you say, smash and grab.

All guesswork of course. But you certainly have to make allowances for the tax hike, by those cunts that have ruined our country from top to bottom, in getting any player to come from abroad.

I sincerely hope in the press conference he actually says something about wanting to play for City rather than just France and the World Cup.

Personally I don't much care what his motives are for playing well as long as he does. He needs to do fucking well for us to earn his ticket to South Africa plane. I don't for a moment think that it's particularily us he wanted to join as a club.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?
