Been thinking about this and have come to the conclusion a loan can't be a bad thing and if he is still good enough then could be a great bit of business as we could do with as many experienced winner's and leaders as possible aslong as it's not at expense of young quality player's who can be apart of our success for years to come.

I don't see a bad thing about this, it's a 6month loan if it don't work out we send him back if it dose and he's doing well for us then we have the option to buy and plus the guy has prem experience it's a win win situation to me.

hes out of contract in summer, a guy whos an expert on milan just said on radio 5
it will save inter 6million euros if he comes to us.
and at the end of the seaso he can leave for nowt.
so if he wants a contract with us after he will have to
get his finger out.i mean noones gonna pay that much for him now
so its a good deal for them.

No problem with having Vieira in the squad.far from the force he was 4-5 years ago but could be useful.still a very imposing figure on the pitch and would be good to have against the more physical sides

Mourinho is now being quoted as saying Vieira will probably be off this month.
Not saying where though

You have got to look at it the other way. Robbie Manc is on 6 month deal and he NEEDS to deliver immediately. That puts him in situation where he can't concentrate on signing players that may or may not come good in few years. If he succeeds and gets long term deal I'm sure we will be seeing different type of player coming in.
I understand his position well and can full well see why he'd want Vieira. Man has won just about everything there is to be won (apart from Champion's League) in the game. We NEED winners.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

He'd be good to have in the squad BUT I can't see him being in the first XI tbh and if he is playing for his world cup, what use is that to him? Having said that, Kompo has looked better in defence than in midfield this season so then de Jong can fight for the spot with Veira, with Barry and Ireland challenging for the more advanced midfield role.

I can't say I've seen him play recently. I have no idea how much pace he still has and whether it's effected his game. If he's anything like the force he was then he's impressive.
He's a year older than Henry (the cunt) so maybe it would be premature to presume that he's finished.

Roberto was on Italian TV last week insisting he was on a 3 and a half year deal and not a 6 month deal with clauses as reported over here.

As for Vieira world-class player in his day who could boss midfields up and down the country in that great Arsenal side, i'm sure he will be a good influence for our younger players in that same role such as de Jong and Kompany to learn off and he will be a valuable player in the big games due to his experience. Wouldn't like this to mean that de Jong was kept out of the team though.
All in all we can't really lose in this one smart move by Roberto.

I can actually see a downside to this. I don't think he's got the legs for it anymore. I don't think he's 33. He will be older. I believe that playing for France would be his only motivation to play, not forwarding the City cause. I'd feel more comfortable with the Schlong who has been one of our best players maintaining his position rather than Vieira getting in on reputation.
A bad feeling in my waters lads. I was happy enough with Santa and Bellers, but this one has me spooked.

I am more with you on this - feel cautious - think he can only be cover for de jong - not in front of him - and why would he come for that in world cup year

IF he's coming, and that's a pretty big IF - I can't think of anyone better to bring a winning mentality to the less experienced members of our squad than Vieira.
So he may not play too many games, so what? Think of the effect in training and just imagine how much De Jong, Barry and Ireland will be raising their game just knowing that Vieira is on the bench.
It's all about levels of expectation and Mancini seems to be raising them pretty quickly.

i think yr high Shaggy. if he doesn't perform when he's called upon he won't play. Simple as that. Cover for NDJ and the skill to play in certain situations as a sub or start some matches if we get hit with continued injuries. We're just an NDJ knee strain away from having basically 0 defensive mids even though everyone feels we have a plethora. Honestly, Barry isn't the stalwart defensive mid and neither is Kompany. With either of them in the role NDJ was playing vs Chelsea we wouldn't have gotten shit from that match imho.

It all depends on the agreement when he comes chefmeister Merchant. If he comes on loan he will want to play otherwise it's not worth making a move. Do you really want him playing ahead of others in our squad?
If he's happy to play second fiddle as he currently is in Milan then fair enough. If that's the case though, why would he move in the first place?
