Spanish paper says Otamendi for 40 million euros and Mangala on loan the other way. Hard to imagine this is all invented.

Would be a crazy move. The Mangler is finally finding his feet after a season of acclimatising to the Prem. And now we're about to ship him out and bring in a new CB untried in the league?

THat's the spafia for you
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Ian Ladyman says we have a strong interest in Otamendi but doesn't think Mangala will go the other way. Something has to give. MDM or Denayer to Valencia on loan? We don't need 5 centre backs.

Hope not. Mangala is playing really well. It would be stupid to ship him out now. I feel we did the same with Javi Garcia.

I honestly don't think we need the character. Why disrupt something that is looking good.

Mangala has done well in the last two games, it seems strange to loan him out now, just when he appears to be settling. Unless otamendi is a replacement for martin D who pelligrini may see as a defensive mid back up.

I think this transfer is likely to happen. We do need a top class centre half if we are to be a real threat in Europe. Mangala has had a decent start to the season but is clumsy and lacks positional sense. The Rags have been very very vocal in the last few days, saying they have no interest in Otamendi. Why? They have been linked all summer but have said nothing until it became clear he is joining us.

Makes no sense whatsoever loaning Mang out. He needs to get used to the pace of the Prem. I'll be pissed off if this happens!

Add this to Jovetic that is 60 odd mill blown, Mango would never come back just like the injured one was finished when ditched from CL

Some of the stories doing the rounds last night were that the loan deal would not come with an option to buy, suggesting Mangala is very much in the club's plans. It looks like we are bringing in Demichelis' replacement in early, but sending a 40m player out on loan is bad business whatever way you look at it, and I find it very unlikely that you would send him out on loan given he is clearly first choice with Kompany at the moment.

Having MDM as a backup for the defensive midfield spot makes sense.

I would honestly be staggered if we let any defender other than Denayer out on loan at the moment

An unsettled back four, yes, that worked really well last season
