If they call the game off then it will be a disgrace, a bit of snow and everyone turns into whiney little girls!!
There are always some pseudo-southerners in South/West Manchester who panic if they see a snowflake but there are hillfolk on here saying it's too bad as well. If people in places like Shaw reckon it's too bad, it's too bad! Pretty grim over this side of the hills as well (Holmfirth), I called my staff and stopped them coming in, it's the responsible thing to do.
Well my mrs has gone to work in Uppermill and my mate is working in Milnrow and he is a delivery man.
People are just bloody soft, the more people who brave it the sooner the roads will clear.
My Mrs got to Stockport OK but got told to come back home...
Being Mossley born and (in)bred I dont hide away from Snowy weather, walked it to Ashton one bad winter (in the 90's) through knee high snow over the tops, but this is the worst I've seen it in a LONG while - and its followed me to bloody Shaw now!
Going off the amount of cars dumped on my street at the botton of a hill, I'd say your delivery driver friend isn't making many deliveries to too many houses on hilly streets ;-)
Soc's is right with what he says because you have to think about when it freezes later on which is going to cause more problems than the snow.
Now if we had this kind of weather more often we'd all have decent snow tires and get them swapped over for the winter and we'd all be fine and sod the grit!
Well he delivers office furniture so his deliveries are town centres, he has had three failed drops already because he's arrived at closed businesses, my mrs got to work in Uppermill and got sent home because the owners are too soft!!
The more people who grows some testicles and get out driving the sooner the roads will turn to slush and clear.

Fucking Mercs are shite in the snow, especially automatic ones.
Bollox! I know your bullshitting now - A Merc in Mossley?! Must be a Sprinter Van ;-)

Crazy Cabbie,
Easy peasy to get down the M56 Mate. Just strap a rag to each foot, rip a leg of each as ski poles and you're on your way.
Alternatively, rope the cab up behind a dozen alsations and whip down the fast lane...Though coming from pish Cheshire, where they only have posh dogs, it'll probably take about 150 minature poodles to drag you over here.
Good on yer Bingo and Sandman...at least you two don't fall apart at the 1st sight of a snowflake.
I KNOW THAT YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT YOU THINK I WROTE, BUT I AM NOT SURE YOU REALISE THAT WHAT YOU READ IS NOT WHAT I MEANT

It was about 8 inches when I dug my car out this morning, I live on the outskirts of Mossley on the Oldham side..
My street too has not seen a gritter in the 10 years I've lived here..

Bloke from Oldham Mountain Rescue Service (!) on Sky News now saying there is more snow in the low areas than on high ground so you probably aren't seeing the worst of it, they say low ground areas have had 12 inches of snow. Advising people not to drive as damage to cars likely and many insurance policies will not cover them.

Good that means the ploughs can get out and clear all the main roads for tomorrow.

That must be the case, I have driven to work in Hyde, I think people just get giddy when they think they can have a snow day.
I admit it is bad, but if people know how to drive safely and carefully then its not a problem.

Playing devils advocate here, but with the injuries we've got would it be such a bad thing if the game were called off.

Yes because it will give them time to recover too, their defence is struggling.
