I suspect Juve know they have Pogba for one more season before he joins Barca.

Yet, does he want to stay now? They made some other signings, including Khadira, but they don't seem as good.

"Agreed". They're triggering the buyout clause.

they were haggling to try and get him for £25m, then the rags enquire and the dippers quickly find the other £7.5m, LOL! Thats the money they received for Sterling spent, plus Benteke will want a nice pay packet too

Yes, the media airbrush the fact the dippers have received £36m for Sterling. Together with £100k a week wages or even higher, they will have have effectively spent the lot on Benteke. Wonder if all the ex dippers who were quick to say what a great deal they were getting, will now revise their statements given they have effectively swapped Sterling for Benteke. Yeah, I heard/read he really wants to go to United. I believe the Sun reported this? Liverpool are quite desperate really.

Funny, on ESPNFC in here they debated whether Rodgers really needs to buy a striker now with Sturridge, even though he may be out until October. Brendan surely cannot risk his job and wait that long. He will surely want to spend the Sterling money to fill the need...but sounds like none they target may really want to come.

Also, he does like to play more than one striker, as I do recall them running a 433 two seasons ago, no?

It's quite obvious this is what happened. Would be rather interesting to wonder if they had just taken the 40+add ons a few weeks ago and could have ensured a better chance they sign Benteke.

It would not shock me to see United sign Benteke and Cavani.

If United nick Benteke from Liverpools clutches it would be bloody hilarious!

I would be very surprised if Benteke ends up with the scum. He's surely dippers bound. Cavani might come loose from PSG but Van Gaal seemed to be pretty clear that Tia Maria was staying although you can never truly trust what managers say in the transfer window.

presuming he's being offered a 5 yr contract it's a $100m deal...

Interesting this one. While de Gea is likely to go to Madrid, Valdes would had been the normal replacement.

I actually agree with the pan-faced freak on this one if his claim that Valdes refused to play in the reserves is true.

No need to make it public though, unless he refused to leave and they want to hound him out.

Valdes tweeted highlights of the reserve matches he played in last year for United, more egg on the face of Butthead!

Man City target Kevin De Bruyne may benefit from Wolfsburg stay - Dzeko

Edin Dzeko says Manchester City target Kevin De Bruyne could benefit from following his lead and staying at Wolfsburg for another year.

De Bruyne, 24, is a target for City, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain after his sensational form last season helped Wolfsburg win the DFB Pokal and finish second in the Bundesliga.

The former Chelsea player had 10 goals and 20 assists and was voted the German top flight's best outfield player of the season.

Dzeko, 29, scored 66 goals in three and a half years at Wolfsburg before joining City in January 2011 and he wrote in German magazine kicker: "Top players like Kevin De Bruyne won't stay at Wolfsburg forever. Everybody dreams of one day playing for a leading international club.

"It was the same with me after we won the league in 2009 -- I had the desire to do something different."

However, the Bosnia-Herzegovina international says the decision to stay in Germany ended up paying off, as he gained valuable Champions League experience and became top scorer in the Bundesliga.

He suggested De Bruyne may end up following the same path, though the City striker said it would be difficult to give the Belgian advice on the best course of action to take.

"He's supposed to be a prospect for us in Manchester," Dzeko wrote. "Kevin has an advantage. Through his time at Chelsea he knows the Premier League and knows that it's completely different.

"A lot of players who excelled in other leagues have had problems here -- take Angel Di Maria.

"I'm certain that [Kevin] has what it takes to play for one of the top clubs in Europe but he's also aware that at these clubs there are 20 top players who always want to be on the pitch.

"Maybe it would also help him if he plays in the Champions League with Wolfsburg this season and takes another step in his development there."

Despite all the speculation this summer, Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs told kicker that there had been no offers for De Bruyne yet. This was confirmed by his agent Patrick de Koster.

"We'll see what happens in the next few weeks," De Koster told kicker. "Maybe there will be an offer, maybe not."

There remains a possibility that De Bruyne could sign a new deal with Wolfsburg but, even if other proposals materialise, the German club do not plan to give up their star player without a fight.

"Our position is unchanged," Allofs told kicker. "We do not want to let Kevin go."

Despite how some the the headlines are worded on this story, I have no problem with what Dzeko says here. He's not warning him off City, he's not telling him to stay. He's speaking plainly. De Bruyne is still developing. Another year at Wolfsburg might help him. Competition for time on the pitch is tough at the top clubs. But, he has experienced part of the Premier League and knows what he's getting into.

I do have a problem with it. He knows perfectly well we're after de Bruyne. If that's his view he should shut the fuck up. It's nothing to do with him anyway.

No worries, they have this fella called Otamendi coming through the ranks to replace him.
