Whoa are you starting a rumour right here!!

If only he'd put (source, BeIN sports) at the end, Richard Keyes would already be reporting it as being from a reliable BeIN Sports source.

If Pep doesn't come, there's gonna be a lot of people come out of this with very damaged credibility now

Richard Keys is standing by it & says he got the tip off before his colleagues reported it.

But for once it won't be the club as they said it is not true.

The opposite would of course be the nightmare PR situation for the club, as it would be the 3rd time we've been indiscreet and shat on an incumbent manager.

On the one hand, most would probably be superficially understanding of a club moving their manager on if Guardiola become available.

But on the other hand, whilst I didn't even particularly like Hughes or Mancini, they deserved more dignity than the club gave them via their indiscretions. I would be pretty upset with the club if it turned out that we had been indiscreet again. It's not the fact that we are speaking to other managers, that's only right and proper - it's the fact we keep getting fucking caught that threatens to destabilise the squad whilst its all playing out in the media at a critical time of the season.

The last time this happened, it was the Spanish side that allegedly leaked it - I don't know what confidentiality sanctions we have at our disposal to stop things getting out in the future, but there must be something that can be done.

This is the thing, what can be done? If there's people out there ( ie Barcelona ) with an axe to grind against our CEO then they're going to do whatever they can to make life difficult for him

Plus, we don't get a helping hand from the media, like certain other clubs do. Most of the media see crucifying City at every chance as lucrative and as beneficial to themselves as the licking up to the likes of United in England/World or Barca/Bayern etc in Europe is. We may not do things that much different than other clubs in this respect but I'd hazard a guess that we need to be far more guarded and protective than most.

He can say that he does not respond to rumour and move onto the next question, he will look a right dick if he turns up next season, how can we trust a word he says if that happens.

I think someone's already alluded to the fact that even if he does come, he's likely to be angling to be sacked so he can come to financial settlement over the last year of his contract.

It may very well be his intention to be at Bayern next year, unless he performs so badly they feel they must sack him. Losing 3 league games and 2 champions league games on the spin is a bloody good way to do it

I can't see any way he will just walk out on Bayern. But I can see very much the possibility that Bayern are thinking of chucking him out & that he has alerted City to the fact that he may be available a year earlier than planned . If he doesn't have the full backing of the club, he will bd gone, but Bayern won't want to pay him off.

Then it's easy; decided they want to go down different paths. Bayern get City to pay him instead & save 15 mil on wages & spend less than half that on his replacement.

Why the fuck is he there? That's what I don't get. Do Bayern really want to change the style of their club to be more like Barca ? It's like they just got Pep because he is famous.

I think it was a vanity project by both parties.

Bayern wanted the 'best manager in the world' whilst Pep wanted to emulate Mourinho by winning league titles and Champions Leagues in multiple countries.

that's how i see it.

it seemed like the oddest match to me, and i think it's proven to be so.

Hard to say it's not working when they've walked the league both seasons he's been there, but i don't believe it's really working out like either side would have hoped.

I don't know Guardiola's style, but it seems most of the top managers share one thing in common, they are control freaks and perfectionists.

If that's the case with Guardiola, I suppose it shows the futility of expecting a manager to come in (regardless of reputation) at one of the world's best teams and start shouting the odds about how things should be done when they've just won every competition they entered the season before.

It seems he's bruised some egos if not in the squad, then certainly around the periphery, and the minute you do that and don't deliver the expected success, the fans are on your back and you're toast.

We've seen time and time again with Real Madrid that the politics of the club makes it largely irrelevant how good a coach you are.

At least with city, if Toure goes we will have done a reasonable job of shifting the big egos over the last few years so are ready to start to build again and he stands a chance

Pep can say he will see out his contract 200 million times. If the Bayern hierarchy see things differently, he may not get to make the choice. Five defeats on the spin is poor, no matter how you dress it up.

The rumour mill will be grinding again by the weekend and it will continue to do so I think

Edit: - looks like it might be just the four. Still, a damp squib end of the season for them
