Well it looks he's going to be facing the same opponents in his first home game for us as he did in his last home game for Everton ie. Arsenal! Let's hope for a better performance that day!

I wonder if Barclays were putting pressure on the Toffee's to get the deal done? :)

Considering Leslie's ambiguous quotes from Friday, everything has move very quickly subsequently.

Dangerous manouvre throwing in a new defender in against them imo. I'm sure if we lose, H will get slaughtered for either playing him or not playing him.

Watching Dunne (& Ball trying to play offside!!) defending v Lescott & Co on that youtube vid dispells the myth that RD only became shit last season. He's let us down in most important games we're expected to win. That game was when we were full of confidence having just beat the rags away, yet his brain's not with it. He 1st lets Yakubu then Lescott go & loses us the game. Note how Lescott can judge the flight of the ball but Dunne can't. He's always struggled with that.

He's been incompetent on a bad day but at his best does a very good job. Never been a top class player though. Should've been a good squad player then & should be now. Being a squad player with better people around him may improve him quite a lot.

Still not convinced this is a great deal for City but hope I'm wrong.
Much too expensive but so what you say, we can afford it.
He just isn't a step up for me I'm afraid and now I guess the Dunnie Monster will take his pick of interested clubs.
Leslie please remember £6M to Villa, Liverpool, Sunderland and the rest except Everton. The price has to be £12M.
Really hope Dunnie doesn't move on but he will be thinking, Leslie will have to play Toure and Lescott given the money he has spent.
Big shame if he goes. He was a rock during the last 4 or 5 seasons, only tarnished by his need to cover for Micah as he settled in.
Unfortunately this will be the first signing that has darkened my day rather than topped up my expectation, since the revolution began.

Like you Curlie, and some others, I'm slightly sceptical. However we have to support all of our players and reserve judgements until later

Stuart Pearce has admitted that Shaun Wright-Phillips may not be on the plane as the City squad fly out to Thailand on Sunday night.
The England winger has expressed a desire to talk to Chelsea over his proposed move to the West London outfit.
And the manager admitted that the situation could move quickly overnight with the twenty-three-year old on the verge of making the move.

"Shaun has expressed a wish to talk to Chelsea," confirmed the manager after watching his side draw 1-1 with Macclesfield.

"Until we agree a fee with Chelsea we cannot allow that to happen. Shaun wanted to play today in the friendly but he had a stomach bug and had to be taken home.

"It is difficult for a young man like Shaun. Chelsea are a big club with a big backer.

"We have to respect a wish from a player. We are understanding at this football club.

"The last thing I think anyone would want is to keep a player that is overly unhappy at the club or to lose one of our best players.

The boss stressed that the story as to where the former Academy star would be playing his football next season could change quickly.

"A great deal could happen tonight or tomorrow morning. We fly tomorrow evening to Thailand and I fully expect Shaun to be on the plane. If something develops in the meantime it would be folly to say he will be with us.

"I don't want to be the manager who is seen as the one who sells Shaun and it would be nice to see him board the plane with us.

"But the bottom line is that he has expressed a wish and it is doubtful that he will be on that plane.

"If something develops and he leaves this football club then I will be very sorry to see him go. I will wish him the best and I am sure the supporters will as well."

And he stressed that now the player has expressed a wish to talk to Chelsea it did not mean that City would drop their estimate of the England man's worth in the transfer market.

"Of course because the player has said he may want this deal to be done does not mean the club will cave in on the deal.

"Shaun and his people have been more than realistic that we have to get the going rate for Shaun Wright-Phillips. That is the bottom line.

"Whilst we are not in the business of keeping players at this football club who are unhappy I think Shaun and his advisers will be acutely that we need to get our valuation for Shaun Wright-Phillips."

I like how the OS has put this as a related link to the Lescott transfer. Pearce got a lot of things wrong but Moyes could learn an awful lot by reading this article.

Seems that there is no hint of tapping up, rather a blame on us for not offering Moyes an extautionate amount earlier; Knob Jockey!!!

Asked if the Lescott deal was well advanced the Everton FC boss said: "If they (City) say they are quite far on I’m sure they are.

"But we shouldn’t have been asked to wait this length of time for an amount of cash we think was the correct value for the player.

"Real Madrid came in with the money (£80million for Cristiano Ronaldo) for Manchester United the week after the end of the season.

"If the money had been offered in June it would have been a lot easier for us.

"The time is against us (to find a replacement)."

If he signs today after his medical then I'd expect him to play against Palace.
