Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

i normally sit in 109 and get away with standing for most of the game sometimes and if the atmospheres good all game
i took 3 of my younger cousins to the game on sat and we were sat 3rd from the front in block 122, soon enough we had a decent chance i stood up and straight away i heard "sit down" i turned around and the whole stand was looking at me like i was teabagging there daughter so i replied with "FAGGOTS" and when it went out for a corner sat back down
i was the only one joining in with the noise from the south stand for pretty much the whole game and it was a fucking disgrace i dont care what anybody say's sitting down kills the atmosphere, I could hear given shouting at defenders for fucks sake it was like being at stamford bridge, maybe if they do expand the stadium one day they will address it and give us a decent standing section, and also a misery ass section somewhere far away from it

I fully agree with a standing area on the lower tier but it would be too dangerous to have any standing areas on the upper tiers.

Yeah, defo what I was thinking. Would love some standing areas back in the game though. As said above many times, sittin really does kill the atmos. Its a done thing that people stand in much of the south and singers corner. Its on the outskirts of that where we have a problem.Where it fades from standers to sitters. Thats where you get people moaning. Doing standing sections would be the best way to stop the arguements for everyone.

If you have 48,000 people you're gonna get one or two dickheads, no matter who they support.

so true.
what gets me is some people saying "these twats that sit down ruin the atmos, sad bastards" are much the same as others who say "sit the fuck down or i'll weigh you in".
i'ts called personal preference brothers, like it or not if you pays yer monies you can take your choice. if you want to sit for the majority of the game then the SS/ES corner probably ain't the best spot; likewise you are not going to be part of a big singing section if you sit in colin bell tier 3. forcing others to adhere to your preference is the mandate of fuckwits.
i sit in 211 and we are all pretty much split: standing at times and seated at others. i wish there was a bit more atmosphere at times, but then again theres been a few of games this season where the noise inside the ground has been phenomenal. when carlitos slammed that free-kick past cech the whole place exploded - i looked across the ground as i caught my breath to scream again and saw literally the whole of the north stand dancing. fucking mint.
like it or not the stadium is as it is now for a very good reason - whether this changes or not is a matter not just for city but the whole of english footy.

Our fans are wankers.
Last 3 times I've been to Coms, my girlfriend has been racially abused and given loads of abuse for being a "day tripper" and all that shite. The stewards do fuck all as well, unless you're smoking, then they'll radio in the swat team.
I just don't go anymore. I can't really afford it now anyway, but I'm not putting me or my missus in the situation where we'll be abused by "our own" simply for looking different from the unevolved brows that furrow amongst the stands. Can't be arsed with it. I'm happy to be an armchair fan when shit like that passes for normality.

This is really sad. I know it sounds easy for me to say chief but don't let it spoil your enjoyment of the game. These tossers should be banned for life when found guilty of this kind of shit.
And again, the world is full of dickheads. I know you'll be intelligent enough to know that it's not just City fans who are at this sort of thing. Try not to associate it with the club.

Ah I know that. Shit happens unfortunately. Thing is, I only ever get to one or two games a year, and this has happened the last 3 times, which happens to be when I bring her along.
Just can't be arsed with it now. It isn't the same, but I feel more comfortable watching at home on a stream knowing we won't have to put up with that shite. I miss out on a lot, granted. But meh, as much as I love City, priorities take hold, so the safety of her is far important (to me) than going to a footy game.

I remember a time when I was a teen when there was quite a lot of racial undertones at Maine Rd
Many a time me and my mates used to slap around the BNP leafleters who used to hang around outside and I know for a fact there was a couple of City firms who were racist boot boys that stood on the Kippax...ironic considering City had one of the first inter racial firms

South stand is always sold out, alot of season tickets there. How did it get changed to standing by the way? Cos when i use to sit there they fucking taped a whole row of for standing up and we had a big debate on here that if carry on standing up they'd dock us points us some total bollocks that obviously never happened!!!
Other than that the view is shite from a net. Bring back a stand the length of the pitch with atmosphere.

I used to get a lot of free tickets and most of the time the tickets were in 110, and my god the abuse directed at the people sat in these seats was appauling. The season ticket holders obs were aware that these were either corporate freebies or access card holders and proceded to call us all cunts, freeloaders, part timers, rags. This happened on more than one occasion and no one ever once told these morans to shut up.
These is the reason I got my season tickets in the North stand, not the same atmosphere wise but at least me and my other half don't get called cunts and other highly orignal names. I get different people sat next toe every single game and i have never once thought of calling them cunts or part time supporters.

How is the atmosphere any good when there's people sat at home rather than going to matches because it effects their enjoyment. There isn't a single reason why people can't sing as much when they're sitting down. It's just a bullshit excuse by people who prefer standing, are in the habit of it or are nostalgic for the good ol' days.
I agree with you there Ronk!
I sit in 217 in the south and sometimes bemoan the fact that more of us don't get behind the lads where I sit.
(I am a noisy ex Kippax/ ex North stand singer) but sit throughout the game (and sing) except when were looking to score and everyone stands up. I sing every chant but onlt stand and raise my arms when Bluemoon gets sung. I am very aware that standing (unless peaple in front of me are standing) prevents fans behind me from seeing!
I agree though that the Taylor report findings are now out dated and maybe something should be done for those who want to stand and not sit!

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal labotomy!

Despite all the recent attempts (kick racism out of football etc..) there are still those(and always will be) underdeveloped, inane tosspots who's real personality are exposed at football matches as being racists!
It's a huge subject and one which was primarily given air time to by thick people with only a very small brain in the football world in the 70's & 80's and as the clientale has changed from the working man to a more 'white collar' thype in the last 10-15 years you might expect a more educated view ... but sadly no!
It's very sad that you have been put off going to City by the small (and I think it is small) minority of deadlegs who have so little life experience to appreciate that no matter what colour your skin, a person, a human being exists beyond it!
Unfortunately, the scum of soceity will always pick on something they know fuck all about and it only highlights their underacievements as human beings!

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal labotomy!
