I've barely heard one word of praise on tv here for Gaz's free kick. IT WAS FUCKING TREMENDOUS. If one of the Sky 4 boys had done that they'd wank themselves into a fucking coma over it live on telly. Imagine the bollox if Giggs did that? All their talking about is Bellamy's mythical offside. They make me sick.

Under the Hughes Regime. Spanish Gaz. or , as I like to think Javier Garrido, would not have been on the bus to Molyneux.
Thankfully, or fortunately for us, the current manager thought otherwise. His free kick was absolute class. Just what on earth were the tafia thinking ? They could rule the world ??
It's a team game , no one player is to blame for results, but I think it says a lot about the kid that he's got the cohones to take such a free kick. Not having played for a while and with all these so called superstars around him.... well done sunshine.

Says a lot about the WORLD CLASS players around him, that they let him take it.
They know how good he is at dead balls - I only seen him take 2.......................

Very pleased for the lad. I was so impressed with him when Doug kept posting in his training reports that Garrido stays behind most days to practice freekicks and helps with crossing for defenders and attackers to practice too.

He has been a good pro and squad player and I am delighted he took and scored the free kick. They will all know about how good he is and well done to Tevez not pulling rank on him.
But let's not get carried away just yet. With Bridge out Mancini still had him as 4th choice for left full back! Maybe he wouldnt have been on the bus had Bridge , Lescott, Ade and RSC been fit and maybe he wouldnt have come on the field if Ireland didn't have a hamstring problem.

He is a great pro & a likeable bloke but when he has played in recent times for each manager, he 's ended up getting skinned. Very doubtful he'll ever be anything but a squad player but I'll be delighted if he turns it round.

Ronaldo - would have been sublime skill and foresight - TAKE A BOW SON
Gerrard - would have been sublime skill and foresight - TAKE A BOW SON
Beckham - would have been sublime skill and foresight - TAKE A BOW SON
Henry - would have been sublime skill and foresight - TAKE A BOW SON
Giggs - would have been sublime skill and foresight - TAKE A BOW SON
Scholes - would have been the reason for next year's player of the year coronation - TAKE A BOW SON
Garrido - what a good goal
Shame that the commentators were so fucking full of big 4 shit that they didnt remember the last one - as that was a real thunderbolt.

Top left-peg on the lad and he's quality at getting forward, as good at Bridge if not better in that department, but he was always suspect at defending. However, under a world-class manager like Roberto aswell as being under the guidence of Brian Kidd i'm sure he can be turned into a quality wing/full-back. A very useful player to have in the squad for sure.

I commented on this briefly in the ratings thread- I've rated Garrido since he signed for us. In Sven's season, he was one of our most consistent performers until the post-Christmas collapse. Footballs fans always look for scapegoats when things go wrong so rather than recognising that the whole team was falling apart at the seams, people chose to pick out Garrido and a couple of others and berate them at every opportunity- the reality is he was a 21 year-old kid coming in to an unfamiliar country. He was bound to have off days. But what about his performances against the rags, Arsenal, Villa and others in that season? Surely they proved he's a perfectly capable left back.
I never understood Hughes' downright refusal to play him- there were times when he seemed to anything BUT give Gaz playing time. Richards at left back at Bolton and Middlesbrough last November, which we both lost, and then Ball or Sylvinho preferred at times. Baffling. As Slim said, Mancini has obviously recognised he can offer us something different- whatever about his lack of pace or supposed tackling weaknesses, you can't fault him technically- he's a wonderful passer and great on set pieces- his corners and crosses from wide areas were almost always inch perfect.
Look, he's not Paulo Maldini but I think he's got a part to play- be it at left back or in midfield- and there are certainly others I'd be getting rid of before him. Don't forget to factor in that he only cost £1million. A bargain I'd say given his versatility and, on the evidence of training, desire to better himself.

Doug at the Training Ground has been praising Gaz's dead ball skills for a long time. This goal will reverberate for some time for when he is on the pitch for free kicks since it will mean the opposing Manager will need to place more men in the wall or put 2 goalkeepers on.
