I think what we want is to enter January within 5 points or less of Chelsea at the top. If that's the case, then we are in business.
The old adage still counts, you cant win the title before Christmas but you can lose it. We need to be within range.

Paddy Power is sticking its money where its mouth is and betting on a Premier League whitewash by Jose Mourinho this season, paying out a whopping £400,000 today to all the punters who have backed the ‘Special One’ to claim the coveted silverware.
Only once before has the bookie called the title so early, correctly crowning Mourinho’s Chelsea the champs in the September of the 2005/2006 season. Almost 10 years on, and with more than half the season to go, the footy gods seem to be once again on Chelsea’s side, leading the powers that be at Paddy HQ to expect only one result come May next year.
What’s the punter pay out:
A huge six figure sum paid out to savvy Chelsea punters
£16k is largest bet placed at 2/5 returning £22.4k to one lucky punter
44 punters have placed £1,000 or more on Chelsea to win and are set to reap the rewards
Over a third of the Premier League outright betting stakes have gone on Chelsea to win – almost twice as much vs. any other team
Paddy has a strong record in calling the Premier League title, however there will be a few nervy bean-counters over at Power Tower for the next few months, as the bookmaker hasn’t always got it right. In 2003 Paddy coughed up twice on the title after paying out early on an Arsenal side who had a 12 point lead but then handed the silverware to Manchester United days before the season was out. Gulp.
The boss himself is quoted as saying, ‘This is one early seasonal treat the punters should love. We now just have to hope that all Jose’s Christmases really do come at once next May!’
Chelsea have racked up nine wins and two draws in their 11 games this season, giving them a four point lead over Southampton in second, and an eight point lead over last year’s Champions Man City. At this rate they’re set to rack up 100 points this season, and Paddy is offering odds of just 7/1 that Chelsea go unbeaten this season.

Realistically, that makes the next few games potentially much more difficult than they were previously. But it highlights how quickly a situation can land on you.
So far almost nothing has landed on Chelsea. It will, if we stay close enough, without any shadow of a doubt it will at some point. If they then battle their way through, beat everyone they need to, & win the league, then fair play to them. But I'm not sure, at all, that they have got it in them. I think it would go pear shaped.
But I don't think the rags would have done it 2 seasons ago either, if we had challenged them. We didn't. Make Chelsea earn it.
Don't throw thi wicket away, make em git you owt , as Geoff Boycott would say.

Its a great piece of marketing in reality - they dont care if they look stupid or not as they will be seen as the punters friend, which may well attract new customers from their competitors.

Yes, but apparently there has been some confusion, as they arrived at Anfield to collect it and it wasn't there.
