http://www.insidespanishfootball.com/11 ... oken-foot/Álvaro Negredo sidelined for three months with broken foot
by Tom Conn | Posted on Monday, July 21st, 2014
Manchester City striker, Álvaro Negredo will miss the next two to three months after breaking the fifth metatarsal in his foot, which was confirmed on Sunday evening.
Negredo played brilliantly in his side’s 1-2 pre-season win over Hearts, providing an assist to Scott Sinclair’s goal, but moments later, the former Sevilla star was forced to leave the pitch with a foot injury.
However, according to Spanish sports daily, Munodo Deportivo, further tests confirmed, after the swelling went down, that Negredo had fractured the fifth metatarsal in his right foot and will miss the club’s pre-season tour of the US and will now begin a three-month recovery programme.
Manchester City has yet to officially confirm the report, but two to three months is the standard recovery time for this type of injury.
Negredo was rumoured to be on his way back to his home club, Real Madrid, but the injury has put to rest any possible transfer to either Atletico or Real Madrid, as the 28-year-old will now be out until late September or October.

Brilliant.Just brilliant. All along I've been saying we needed to sign another forward. That means we're stuck with one , now.

I would hardly say we only have one striker! Jovetic and aguero are both injury prone but it would be massively unlucky to have all 3 out at the same time! Not something you can accommodate for by having 5 world class strikers on the books. We get plenty of goals from midfield too, I'm sure silva, nasri, toure, navas and Milner will find the back of the net when needed. The way negredo has been playing since January you could hardly count him as a striker anyway!

I hope we will use Jovetic and Dzeko in harmony for a time. We should give Sergio as much time as possible to be fully fit and rested before he plays. We'll get the benefits later on if we do. A metatarsal fracture means 3 months before Negredo is ready to compete for the first team so one more injury to our strikers and it would be serious.

No need to panic, Nasri can easily play in behind another striker, or Silva.

Negredo injured or ineffective since January; Aguero and Jovetic perennially injured or coming back from injury ..... as it was from last February onwards, its over to you Edin, you are on you're own son - good luck carrying us up top again!
As an aside, Negredo's 3 month injury surely means a loan deal for David Villa or is it just that blindingly obvious that it wont happen?

I thought he has already agreed the deal to play with Melbourne first before NYCFC meaning we cannot have him.

ugh.
well, good thing we have one of the deepest strike forces around.
i saw examples posted on bluemoon that healing from this injury can take much longer than expected.
jovetic and aguero really need to stay fit this season.

It's a pity for him, was hoping he could regain his form early in the season.
It's over to big ed now.

No Hart, Zabba, Demichellis, Kompany, Yaya, Fernandinho, Dzeko Silva, Milner....etc. What you and I saw was a public training run out, no more, no less. Your club got £25 a head and advertising revenue from Etihad.
An enjoyable, no pressure game. You really should just say thatnk you and leave it at that...:-)

Considering the run of games we start with I won't be surprised if Aguero ya ya and Kompany all end up out by the final whistle at Newcastle.

Not something to rush back as we've seen in the past. Be surprised if he made too much of an impact before December/January.
