Manchester City striker, Álvaro Negredo will miss the next two to three months after breaking the fifth metatarsal in his foot, which was confirmed on Sunday evening.
Negredo played brilliantly in his side’s 1-2 pre-season win over Hearts, providing an assist to Scott Sinclair’s goal, but moments later, the former Sevilla star was forced to leave the pitch with a foot injury.
However, according to Spanish sports daily, Munodo Deportivo, further tests confirmed, after the swelling went down, that Negredo had fractured the fifth metatarsal in his right foot and will miss the club’s pre-season tour of the US and will now begin a three-month recovery programme.
Manchester City has yet to officially confirm the report, but two to three months is the standard recovery time for this type of injury.
Negredo was rumoured to be on his way back to his home club, Real Madrid, but the injury has put to rest any possible transfer to either Atletico or Real Madrid, as the 28-year-old will now be out until late September or October.
