I'm surprised he doesn't wander around with the complexion of a zombie considering all the blood he regularly loses.

It was very un-Dutch. I'll give you that ... But the Argies were just as poor and have been all through the tournament.
And with the player material Bacon III has had to choose from, what the hell was he supposed to do? Martins Indi, Janmaat, de Vrij ... They're hardly world class.

I agree that the materials he was working with were poor on the whole (and he missed Strootman), but I expect more from a Dutch team in the quarter- and semi-finals of the World Cup than playing for penalties from the off.

See appalling van-galling is moaning that it's unfair to make holland play in the third place play off. Clearly one of his traits that singled him out as the next boss of the scum.

Was it just me or did Messi look out of it last night. His eyes at kick were not focused at all and he looked lethargic for large parts of the match. Not suggrsting he has taken illegal or banned substances but he just didn't look normal

Didn't see that but was hoping to see more from him and robben. Both were well shackled though.

At the risk of sounding somewhat racist, I think Van Gaal looks arrogantly Germanic so, on that spurious basis and for want of anything more creative, I'm going to call him 'Lousy Von Goal'.

I like the Argentinian centre-back Ezekial Garay, especially playing alongside DeMichelis and I think the pair of them have looked quite effective together; so much so that I wouldn't mind seeing Garay at City.
However, how much of this apparent effectiveness can be ascribed to Mascherano ??
At times he's been playing so deep that he's almost looked like a third central defender, but I just wonder if this is to Argentina's detriment in an attacking and creative sense.
Given Pellegrini's ideas on defending, would a Garay-DeMichelis partnership work for us, especially when bolstered by Fernando in front of them ??

I dont think its a detriment to them, its a great tactic, switching from a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 into a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 dependant on how you view Messi.
Mascherano is a competent CB as we have seen for Barca and is comfortable dropping in their to allow Zaba and Rojo to get forward.

so you're suggesting that to strengthen our defence we should maybe need to drop Vinnie?

That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away.

Mascherano played out of his skin in their last match (when he tracked that mazy run through the defenders to get a last ditch block on the shot it was the defensive move of the tournament) - he's playing like someone who knows it's his last chance for the big one. He apparently addresses the team before kickoff too, there were reports of Messi and a few of the others talking about his passionate call to arms. However you set yourself up you need someone in midfield who can at least cover the back four if needed and he does it better than most. It's been a tragic waste watching him play in central defence at Barca.

No.
Garay would be the natural and automatic partner for Kompany but, given the sometimes problematic nature of his fitness, a Garay-DeMichelis partnership would be interesting to consider when Vinnie is out injured.

Van Gaal complaining that having to play in the 3rd place play-off is unfair. Didn't he know the format before it started; beginning to sound like Moyes already.
Hoping Fern gets that 3rd place and would like to see a good game from him to finish.

He's complained that the hosts got to play a day earlier and therefore have a day's extra rest, like that hasn't happened in EVERY single world cup I've ever seen.

He's a grade A cunt and always has been. Just like rvp, I'm delighted he's gone to the rags because it completes his cuntiness.
Over rated butthead. The biggest thing he has done of note in the last few years was beat costa rica on penalties.

Van cunt is an odious piece of shit , I'm going to enjoy ranting to myself with bile with my hateometre hitting its peak every time his bulbous distorted head appears on TV.
He has nearly the same hateability as their ex drunken tramp.
