Italy's back four are looking rather stretched at times. We just need more possession.

I think we've just got the better legs here.

I'm not sure why Welbeck is on the right and Wiggy on the left. Welbeck usually always plays left and covers well at times. Wiggy won't do that and if he's doing nowt going forward, he's doing nowt

Any bets on the first time Rooney will pop up in central midfield looking for the ball and generally getting in the way?

Close.

Welbeck did well there. Rooney needs to step-up.

That's two touches for Rooney - one went stright to Italy the second bounced off him then was booted out by an Italian defender. What a waste of space.

Rooneys not in good enough shape to play in these conditions. He could explode by the end of this game.lots of pressure on him he's had a lot of people questioning his place in the side he really needs something to happen for him.

31 minutes, and Rooney goes into face in ref's face mode. That will be his contribution from now on.

Like being substituted for Milner.

Funny how he is a guaranteed starter when a "surprise" starter in sterling has done more in 30 minutes of his first competitive game than Rooney has in the last 4 tournaments.

He should be used in qualifying then dropped.

England need to go for this. They can beat this Italy team based on what we've seen so far...and probably win this group unless Woy fucks it up.

Never would have thought that 4 hours ago.

Unrelated, I'd like that costa Rican
Keeper as backup for Joe.
