Is there any possibility that fernando might pair up with Vinny? After all Vinny was a midfielder prior to coming to us!.

Would suit the current trend in football of trading pure defensive skill for safer and more dynamic ball retention. I have no idea though.

To be honest I think the primary intention will be to free up Yaya and Fernandinho to operate further forward. Fernando looks to be a player who is completely focused on his defensive duties, can cover the ground really well and can also pick out a decent pass. I think he'll be a great success. The defence will love that extra protection and we'll get the best out of Fernandinho who is wasted as a defensive midfielder. Hopefully he'll score a few goals next season.

So would he be signed as a partner, or as a backup ?

If it's as a partner, do we know he can play there or is he another modern day knob who can't stand a bit to one side whilst defending ?

hahahahah

Sky sports reporting we only have to have five homegrown players, eufa state that after representations from players association squares of 21 only need 5 not 8 homegrown players this should help transfer plans.

Martin Blackburn of the Sun says an 'issue' holding up Fernando transfer. Won't scupper the deal but might delay it a few days. Third Party ownership issues?

I think we have enough in those areas.

What little bits I've seen of Fernando, I recon the side City will put out next season would be miles more likely to turn that Dutch team over than Spain tonight. All the areas where they were weak, we are much stronger, quicker tougher & basically better. When they were sharp enough to keep the ball for 80 mins out of 90, it was a different matter, but what we saw tonight, was not a good side. Of course they can go back to playing 6 midfielders to try & fix that, but that would be no use in the Prem.

But looking at that tonight, I wouldn't swap any of our 4 strikers for Costa for a start & that's going off seeing him about 20 times, not just tonight.

In fact, I recon Iniesta plus City, is a stronger side by some distance than either of those two teams, & that is a very exciting prospect.

We just need an extra centre back, WITH PACE, to deal with the kind of situation we saw tonight.

Costa doesn't suit their style. They're used to playing with a false number 9. Actually Torres didn't look too bad when he came. He has got pace but once he has a chance at goal he freezes. His confidence is utterly shot. David showed decently when he was on I thought. Yes we need a centre back with pace. Mangala could be that man even if he's not the finished article yet.

Put Yaya, Fernandinho, Fernando, Aguero, Zabba, Vinny, even Demichelis in there with Iniesta & Dave, & I recon the Dutch have a much bigger problem.

Bruno Martins Indi would be my shout. Experienced at club, European and international level yet still only 22. And plays on the left side.
