Ideally for me this lad would be a promising youngster, an understudy for Silva to grow into the role who would then reach his peak once Silva eventually leaves. probably not gonna happen but one can always hope

I'm very very optimistic we will bring through at least one of those, we have a bunch of possibles through the lower age groups but I doubt it will be for a few years. If Silva plays on to veteran stage, we may time it just right, but even Silva took time & games, to become the player he is now.

Pozo is the nearest from the current group, but he is more of a No 10, & has missed loads of game time through injury. Hopefully he gets back his potential, as I recon he was a better prospect than Lopes 15 months ago.

Isco at City would be going to the world cup. How the likes of Cole and him must love the managers of the club sides they have..... not

judging by skysports interview with yaya we need to be planning for 12 months time as if correct he might be considering a move then.

Shaw and Ross would be starters, which is the point when recruiting, now, The quality has to be high to even get near this 1st team, they both have that and add to it.

22 players, 3 trained in England and none at our club.

However, sell Pantilimon and replace him with Westwood, sell Nastasic and replace him with Mathais Bossaerts(academy). Sell Garcia, use Barry(£2.5M) and Rodwell(£6M) as makeweight for Barkley and things look a lot better for us.

Wouldn't be Bossaerts, perhaps you were thinking of Jason Denayer ? Denayer= great prospect but not ready as a cb yet imo. Needs to play v grown ups for a while & see how he does. May have no choice but to fast track him through though.

None of the kids playing centre back are currently as good as Nastasic imo & none good enough for the first team. Rekik is closest physically but he is similar paced to Stephen Jordan. If we let Nasti go, we would ideally have to sign.

Just looking at that squad, it again seems utterly bizarre we are letting Lescott go. Also, no point at all getting rid of Rodwell unless it's for a qualified replacement. Also Rodwell is emergency cover for cb. Same with Micah, but it seems it's him who is leaving rather than being dumped.

Nastasic could be registered to play in the Prem (was U21 before 1st Jan) & left out of the Champs League (doesn't qualify as U21).

Anyhow, out of that 19 who don't qualify fully, you would think that the players in consideration for the drop are: Pantillimon, Nastasic, Kolarov, Garcia, Jovetic, Negredo.

Two of those have to go if we sign Fernando, Mangala & Sagna.

Then, unles we sign 'home produced' every player we bring in, means one is leaving.

Fabregas becomes very very tempting, as imo does Ashley Cole (sorry but he does).

Just realised I'm talking bollocks here: Nastasic has now completed two seasons at City & was 21 in March, so probably qualifies for one season in Champs Lg on list 'B' as the Champs Lg requirement for U21 is 2 years at the club, between the age of 15 to 21. So if this season counts as his 2nd season at City as an U21, in theory he can be discounted from squad limitations for one more season.

Tricky fuckers.

Rekik would qualify in both squads as far as I know.

I was not impress by Mangala against Sevilla .He sucked , but maybe it's one of those games.
You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer.

He did say that he will stay until we win the champs league (so next year is maybe optimistic!) - then said "after that maybe a new club" then sort of chuckled like it was a joke - so who knows

Now we are linked with yet another defender ... Rome-based newspaper Il Tempo claims today that we have offered Roma £25m for their standout defender Mehdi Benatia (27).

Might have been, trying to keep tabs on the eds is hard some times, I know one of the two missed most of this season through injury, I meant the other one.

And while we are talking defenders ...

A club next season can potentially pick up a few defenders for FREE and have this makeup at the back:
Richards - Lescott - Ferdinand - Cole

Sure, they all have at least one good season left in them at the top level?

I was just reading that , mate i talking about him whole season , Roma who last two season score a lot but also received a lot goals , he is the reason Roma defense this season was granite one .Hes have it all , hes quick , strong , read play great and , Good in the air, is technically good and gave a couple of spectacular goals .He remain'd me a lot of our Komps . Anyway here is the article.
"Rome team played a great season so most of its players was on the wish list of big European clubs. One of those is the focus of many clubs and brilliant defender Mehdi Benatia. Footballer who arrived at the beginning of this season in Roma from Udinese played a great season in which he scored in 30 matches seven goals . For his services were interested, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, but it seems that Manchester City were the most tangible and have already made contact with Roma about bringing Bentia. Specifically with Moroccan Roma has a contract until the 2018th year, and City is ready for his services to pay 25 million euros , that would be enough to satisfy the tastes Roma who buy him from Udinese for 13, 5 million."
