No wonder we can't defend if they are missing part of their feet.

hate to jump on the bandwagon but.........

I sinerely hope that the new regime doesn't have to sell our players lunches to fund new signings.

Thoroughly ashamed of my club tonight.

Only people to come out of all this with any dignity are Hughes and those sacked with him.

The only thing i trust now is that the owners will f#ck things up so bad that not only will they run off with their tails betweentheir legs but leave a great big mess behind them.
I dont give a shit what most of you think but i believe this is a very bad move.
I hope to god that im wrong i really do, i just have this massive feeling that it's all turning to shit.

What utter tripe. You need to see a doctor. Think he will recommend some counselling as well as medication. I wouldn't mention your username though, he might have you committed.

Neither ashamed nor happy.
Why would I be ashamed?
A slightly surprising decision, spesh the timing. And I'm not sure that mancini guarentees anything better. I'd have stuck it out with Spunky myself. I quite liked him.

I am happy he has gone, but not happy about the way the club has gone about it, where it the option for that?

You know we let the Hughes poll die for a reason bro, this is just Hughes Poll v2.0. Lock it, let it die.

no pleasing some people is there?

I am not happy he's gone but feel that the club went about it in the right way completely. Not weeks of rumours, just fast fairly brutal surgery.

None of this "mutual consent" rubbish that everyone can see through. A very clear statement that objectives not met so unilateral action taken. Not pretty but in light of the massive 4 weeks we have on the cards the only sensible way to do it.

I also think the poll is entirely justified.

I dont see a problem.

They gave him a vote of confidence at the end of last season, set targets and opened their wallets to the tune of 200 mill. We started great out of the blocks but dropped off quickly, inherently failing to kill off games against teams that had us sussed tactically. Losing 3-0 to spuds was an embarrassment, what should the owners have done, give Hughes another 100 mill to buy 35 mill of "reinforcements", Not given him any cash and undermined his position or bring someone else before the next transfer window. Mark Mak states that there was every reason to believe Hughes was addressing the defensive issue. How? Conceding 3 goals at home after a drubbling by twitchy. The owners made the right decision. Look at Niall Quinns Discopants, a few games into the season praising Hughes, he was like me hopeful that we were building, we then reverted to old habits. If Mancini fails so be it, what would I consider success? Beating the rags, shoring up the defense, actually managing to beat teams from the lower half and a top 5 finish this season. That would do me nicely, I hope Mancini delivers.

I have the same feelings as you Slim on this one. The voting options are too narrow to express my actual feelings. Let me say
I am relieved he is gone as I could not see him changing his mentality and beliefs on how the team should be run. If we go back
over the 18 months period he's been in charge, we can find scores of decisions that he made in formations, substiutions and game plans which were suspect and led to dropping points against oppositions that should have been killed not only with the current batch of players but also with those we had last season.
The match against Spurs typifies his approach for me by starting Robinho (knowing his form in away, wet and cold conditions) and leaving Petrov and Weiss on the bench and even when down 2-0, not giving Weiss a chance when it was quite clear that we could not penetrate the Spurs defence from the middle.
Finally and to be fair to the owners, MH was not their choice for manager. They inherited him. In the world of business (which football is these days) when new owners take over a company, they immediately bring in their management team. Sheikh Mansour did not do that and gave MH a good run and tons of money but unfortunately he did not deliver and had to pay the price for that.

As a fence-dweller who always said Xmas was decision time, I feel our league results and position is rather unacceptable all things considered. Therefore I am a little surprised by all the moral outrage. Job not done to target.

You must always remember that Mr Hughes, probably a milliomaire already, will be a multi-millionaire, rather than destitute.

I share Slim's feelings. We could've done it with more style and grace but bottom line stands, we weren't making progress as expected considering money spend. And no matter what some of the world's biggest Blues claim here, there were always fractions between supporters.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Can I ask what you mean by "Job not done to target"?

What was this target? Top six? Top four? The title? A trophy?

None of those could be answered for definite until the end of the season.
