Cup final Cats

In the spirit of cup final build up, I thought I would start this tonight, and try and add to it in the next couple of days. The Black Cat fans are not at all pessimistic about Sunday (for the most part), and just look for a good game…I second that. I don't think its wise to predict a one off cup final game, but I am going for a scrappy 2-1 win to the magnificent boys in blue.

Team Selection

Mannone
Alonso, Brown, O'Shea, Bards
AJ, Ki, Catts, Colback, Borini
Wickham

My favourite

Ha'waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

And the rest…

Cattermole will start, and if he plays the whole game, we will be in with a chance. We can easily guess who the other 10 will be. Jacki Mo and Gardner to come on after 50 mins.God willing we get the winner in the third of four minutes of added time. With an Alonso header-Yippee

Still think Gus will spring a surprise and play Giacc.

If Atkinson's the referee, we'll need the Attorney-General as fourth official, and two members of Special Branch as linesmen.

Jesus! - and they called Maradona a cheat!

The cup Gods may be smiling down on us. In 1973 we beat three top teams to win it. This trophy it has been Soton, Chelsea and Man U. Like the the 1973 team, why should we fear anybody now. If it is lashing with raining on the day then divine providence exists.

Without checking I think we've had a pretty good record against City in the last 3 years it so. Is there another team that's taken more points from them than us?

Grasping at whatever small straw is available against arguably the strongest squad in the PL for years, are we their bogey team?

It would be nice going into the game knowing we're inside their heads!

well if crappy barca can beat them so can we

It will be 0-0 until our 75th minute winner

Their 5 man midfield would just stroll through our midfield 4, they'd hit us for a cricket score. The only chance is to match their 5 in midfield, press them high, disrupt them and break up their play. Even if they did play a midfield 4 then we'd still need a midfield 5 to stand a chance. Look at Stoke. Not many only get beat to the odd goal at their place.

Just don't fancy Catts and Ji's chances against Fernandinho and Toure

Lescott has played in every round so far so cant see that changing
Demichellis has been a bit of a scapegoat and the media are looking to slaughter him but hes not been that bad to be honest

Yep we could sneak a 1 nil win after Man City miss a host of chances or we could be on the end of a right thrashing...depends on what Sunderland side turn up i suppose.... or we might win 3 nowt and play them off the park

Don't think I've ever looked forward to a game this much before, i feel sick with nerves.

No matter who starts or who plays. City are to strong for us, and if the same lot show up like we did against arsenal then god help us.

But still I hope we can pull of a shock win

They are stronger than us... not necessarily too strong. Otherwise, we wouldn't have beaten them 4 years on the trot

Assuming Demichellis will play, then Borini will be better at exploiting his lack of mobility than Altidore will. Also if we do get a chance, I'd rather it fell to Borini or Giaccherini than Jozy.

Colback has the lovely habit of totally neutralizing Yaya Toure

Doesnt matter who we play, chances will be very limited for us. If we had the Larsson of old, who was superb from dead balls, id have him in as I think that is our best chance of scoring.

Game plan wil simply be to still be in the game as it gets to the latter stages (like away to Man Utd).

2 goals at least.....I am going with Man City 2 Sunderland 3

Just like at Maine Road in a cold December snowy British day when most fixtures canceled that Saturday except the Man City / Sunderland match. On match of the day it was almost the full match that day. Great day to be a Sunderland supporter.

Fook the final.

We're there and will have a great day. Result means nowt. Just condemns us to that fookin idiotic europa league which is a bigg fookin White Elephant regardless of which div we are in next season

Would swap it for the max 6 pts against them in the PL

I think if any team outside the top 5 has a right to feel confident against us, it's Sunderland. But it won't be 2-3 if they win, it'll be 0-1.

That being said, Aguero back, Nasri back, Fred back....just the reboot we need on our season and I can see City running away with it.

We've generally been much better when we've had a full week to prepare and I see us starting at a high tempo but probably without Aguero.

Pellegrini's approach has generally been to bring returning players on in the second half not take them off early, and it does remove the temptation to keep him on too long if he starts and we font make an early breakthrough.

Let's hope he comes on after 60 with us 2 up.

I thought this thread was going to be about the City and Sunderland moggies. Wimblidon died, didn't he, is there a new feline at Carrington these days?
