TV Advert

Postby Mikhail Chigorin » Wed Feb 26, 2014 4:21 pm

There's an advert for the deodorant 'Sure', currently on the TV and it shows a footballer going through an impressive range of skills with the ball, in all sorts of different locations/settings.

It's difficult to make out who the footballer is but, if anyone has seen the advert, could it possibly be Elano ??

If it's not our gifted, one-time right back, it would be good to know who it is.

Part-way through one of the games in Sven's tenure, Elano had to slot in at right back for a spell.

Can't for the life of me remember, at the moment, who the opponents were.

Hi played two games as right back. One was at home against Pompey. I was sat on the first row, just by the corner flag, so I remember it well. He started as right back that game, after having been put as a make shift one in the previous game.

That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away.

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Elano also played Right back against Fulham at home, the infamous 3-2 defeat which kept them up.
In that game we played Elano right back, Ball and Corluka centre backs and Sun Jihai left back.
Remember the ' attacking midfielder at right back, left back and right back playing centre backs and a right back playing left back.

All this talk of Elano is giving me deja vu.

How would he have faired in todays team? Have we had this debate before?

Didn't have the work rate required. You compare him to silva / nasri just on work rate alone and he is lagging far behind, even before you add in Silva/ Nasri's talent.

Eland was at the right level with us back then

Hadn't he played there at some point in his career? I recall Fat Sam moaning after Elano fouled one of his dainty players (Newcastle?) That everyone knew Elano couldn't tackle. I'm sure Sven played him there afterwards to make Sam look even dafter
