Firstly, the results weren't as they should have been, too many draws, too many indifferent performances. I said after the Chelsea victory that the tactics were spot on and the team seemed to be playing Hughes' way, which begs the question "Why didn't they do it all the time?".

This is why i was on hughes side , They will raise there game when the whole world is watching them but when its just us city fans there not intrested. For me the big players act more like celbrities rather than wanting to play for the shirt.

That is why i feel sorry for hughes but thats what you get when you pay stupid amounts of money to people , there set for life no need to bust a sweat when you get by with a stroll.

We're just like any other moneybags club at the heart of it, that's a shame as I thought we might just be different.

If they had, and we didn't make the top 4, and Platini's new rules were passed and the chance was lost, what would you have said about them?

OOOOHHH IM ALL TINGLY WITH EXCITEMENT

In these days you can't presume respect in any areas. School children tend to dissrespect their teachers and so on. The only respect these days are when money is involved.

Hughes was so unlucky.

Hull dodgy penalty = that would have been 3 points
Burnley dodgy penalty = that would have been 3 points.

Hughes is a good manager but it just didnt happen here. He did a decent job but didnt meet expectations. IMO Managers get the short end of the straw and they get all the abuse when the team doesnt perform! It is the teams fault. They play the football and the manager just has to teach them everything they know and keep the team together and help the team progress. Hughes was treated unfairly but i still welcome the appointment of Mancini with open arms.

I think the way he went could have been handled much better, it makes our owners look like the sterotype 'don't understand football' types. Not been a big fan of Leslie personally but he's been quite dignified, and seeing him trudge off today typigied that. I think he genuinly cares for the club and hasbeen trated poorly. Still the next chaper begins. Could be a big risk this decision, it could be genius, time will tell.

For all those up in arms about the manner of the sacking would it be so harsh if it were Hiddink or Mourinho flying in next week to take over? of course it seems a bit brutal, it is, but the game has changed so much I'm suprised it took them so long to give Hughes the elbow. Its his team, his signings, his tactics, and today, everytime Sunderland lobbed a ball into the box you feared a fuck up. I dont know why we are so fragile at the back but other teams, (and Stoke are the typical blood and thunder type, so thats another hard game) have taken note of this. Because the league is more competitive this year, with the usual front runners dropping points, our inabilty to kill teams off is all the more frustrating. A few players have to question there own performance, and I hope they are but the buck stops with the manager and after a huge amount of money invested City, in all fairness, are another bad run of results away from mid table. Hughes will bounce back, hes a decent manager but its so open this year to risk falling away is unthinkable.
The stakes have been raised now, and if Mancini doesnt cut it, he'll go too. He'll go and they'll keep going until it clicks and we are up there. Its harsh but there you go.
I am now going to send Mark Hughes one of my wifes lovely mince pies and a nice juicy satsuma.

I don't get it? Would they rather they had sat on their hands then sacked him last Thursday morning and then started a six week search for a replacement while putting Douglas Higginbottom in charge as caretaker?

the fact is sparky is a very likeable guy so people were gonna be upset that he's gone no matter how it happend, the fact they suppport him and are sad he's gone just shows the caliber of our fans and i would be quite mad if no one was bothered and it happend without comment, some of us are just more accepting of how the club has to change for us to go on to bigger things
