Mancini in the Press!

Postby AG7 » Sun Feb 09, 2014 2:53 pm

What is he doing ... this is the last thing the club needs for him to be coming out with stupid silly statements like these ... last week it was about taking all the credit of how good City is playing now ... and now it's about club talking behind his back to Guardiola and Ancelotti and somehow betraying him ...

First of all, that's what the club hierarchy is supposed to do ... not like West Brom that they fire a manager first and then have no clue who they are going to appoint next and end up with whoever agrees ... so yes if Soran and Tixi were looking at the change and it all probably was blessed by Khaldoon and Sh. Mansour then I guess they were simply doing their job the right way ...

He is only coming across as bitter with every such interview ... and this is only going to increase in English media, with Galatasaray coming to the country to play Chelsea ...

And is the last thing we need right now as a club ... we already have a crucial crucial period with FA Cup and CL, both big games coming up after two blanks in last two games ... with Mourinhio getting under Pelligrini's skin a little and seizing advantage in the league ... and really Mancini should just shut up and keep the respect all the City fans have for him ...

He talked to the club whilst Hughes was manager. He talked to PSG when he was our manager. He likes to talk.

So I was right that they were talking to Pep too ? What an enormous surprise. The God Squad gave me loads of shit for pointing out the near certainty that would be happening at the time too.

Gary Cook confirmed, when Mancini did the deal with him behind Hughes' back, that it was standard practice for every club to talk to potential replacement managers all the time, & that it would continue. It was pretty fucking obvious to all those whose tongues weren't stuck right up Bob's arse, that two mates of Pep's are going to talk to him about the City job. I mean it's fucking nailed on isn't it ?

No doubt they still talk to him about it now, in case the circumstances come around where he is suitable. No doubt they speak to others too, maybe even Mourinho. It's their job.

Don't see how it has any baring on the club now though. Doesn't matter to us at all. Mancini can say what he likes, he doesn't work for us & has no debt to us, that he can't criticise our bosses.

I think Mancini was the right man at the right time for us. I don't think for one minute he is perfect, but the man is a born winner. He will forever be a City legend for what he achieved in such a short space of time with us.

We all know he is a passionate and complex character who wears is heart on his sleeve, that is what endeared him to us all.

I will never condemn the man just for giving his side off the story. Lets face it we have read enough negative stuff leaked about him.

For me he was being deliberately undermined as far back as the pre-season before he was sacked when he was shafted by the 2 Spaniards with his transfer targets. He wanted De Rossi,RVP,hazard,we all know who he got, it was an unmitigating disaster and cost us dearly in our Title defense last season.

Then we have the well documented dressing room grasses, we all know who they are, they are still at our club. Drip feeding all sorts of shit to the Daily Mail and other tabloids undermining Mancini at the Club. Some of them didn't like a few home truths about their performances. coincidentally it is a similar set of fixtures this season, struggling against the lower placed clubs that will cost us dearly, as it did last season. And ironically one or two of the same whinging players have cost us again and have found them selves omitted from the team at one time or another. Mancini said Joe Hart would have been replaced had he stayed that would have been a good start. How long before the same players start leaking stuff again because Mr nice Pellegrini has stopped being so nice ?.

I like Pellegrini he comes across as a thoroughly decent character, I know the players appear to like him and the dressing room is a happier place for now. Is he a born winner though ?,the jury is still out on that one, his C/V says he isn't, at 60 he has left it a bit late in the day to change that. All the best managers are a bit eccentric and have personality flaws,Baconface,Mourinho,Clough.

Only time will tell if we dropped a huge bollock sacking Mancini. Personally I would have liked to have seen the grassing mard arses at our club shown the door first because the said players are not good enough anyway.

maybe Mancini comes across as a bit of a cunt because he doesn't say hello to the kit man or tea lady, or tell players how great they are and shouts at them occasionally after a shit performance. Personally as a supporter I don't give a fuck as long as we win trophies.

Well done Roberto Mancini thanks for the memories, they will never be forgotten.

He can say what he wants we are much better in the eye this season than at nearly every point under mancini.

When he thought we'd blown the league he went trying to get the Monaco job so he wasn't being very loyal to the club so why should the club show him any loyalty.

If he got the players playing an attractive style of football then maybe he'd still have a job at the finest club on the planet

He was brilliant for us and retained his dignity throughout. These comments are not helpful, and they are undermining the memory of his success. However, the press are making more of this than they should. He has just answered a few questions and I don't think he should be destroyed because of that. He was interviewed for the Monaco job??? Says who? The press ... suppose it must be true then.

He admitted he had spoken to other clubs the summer after we won the league, saying he knew he would be sacked if we didn't win the league

Ok but in the circumstances you can't blame him for lining something else up in case he was sacked.

Absolutely not, but the point I think people are making is that one can't then criticise the club for lining up alternatives in case the current manager fails

Yes I understand but it must be difficult for Mancini to accept that he failed. Domestically he was very successful. Dd he fail? In Europe we did not succeed but he got 10 points in the first champs league campaign in a very difficult
group. The second year was less convincing but Mancini must wonder why the powers that be did not rate him. I wonder if United are looking at Gollum's replacement.

Mancini imo, like Mourinho is a short term manager. Great for a couple of years but then things start to turn a bit sour.
He had done as much as he could for us but the players and board clearly had issues with him and we would have continued to fall rather than rise as we have done.
He was a success yes and no one can say someone who brought us our first two trophies in 40 years or so was a failure. But he'd run his course with us and it was time for him to go.
All he's doing now is tarnishing his reputation with these media interviews.

I think Mancini is akin to Jose, in that he is very divisive with his approach and aloofness, although not on the same planet when it comes to actual managerial ability of getting the best out of a group of players through motivation. For that reason, the minute he stops being successful, his negatives outweighs what he brings to the club and it leaves an owner little choice but to pull the trigger.

The united hierarchy wouldn't put up with Mancini's hissy fits and subversion when he doesn't get his own way, plus despite my admiration for Mancini's achievements at city, I will always see him as a money manager, one who only wants to play with the cards stacked in his favour - he wouldn't last two minutes at united, and they wouldn't appoint him anyway.
