I think Javi is being asked to play deep and drop into a back 3 almost when we have the ball to allow the full backs to bomb on and support the attack. It means when we lose possession we don't get caught 3 on 2 with just the centre backs in defence. Something that was happening at the beginning of the season and resulting in us dropping points, when fernandinho played early on he wasn't staying back as much but now when he plays alongside yaya he does appear to be holding more. Those who complain Javi only does 5 yard sideways passes should probably realise that he is most likely being told to do this. Win it and give it to yaya, silva, nasri, navas etc and be an option if they are under pressure. He's not world class but he's getting better, more confident and working on his game. Long may it continue!

When was the last game where you saw Garcia track like a madman and put in a great tackle, win the ball back and start a new attack?
He did this against Cardiff and was pretty good all game, however, you wont see that on the highlights package!

Saw it on LOF about 20 secs after it happened(think not showing it live is how they get away with it).I think he may have started the move against barcodes as well,I think they will have it on highlights if you want to look.
Bayern at 49 mins and West Ham at 50 mins come to mind but I think there might be others.

Live Online Footie has long since risen from the ashes as HD Streaming (viewing site) and News Source TV (membership). I per per year and thought I'd lost out when LOLF went down but the new set up emailed me and have honoured my membership.

If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.

Cheers Herb and RH, I got the email a long time ago about hd-streaming but this was only up for a short while and then went down for while, I gave up trying and use other sources but will go back to this now if its stable.

That's the top and bottom of it. He'd only deserve the kind of abuse he gets on here were he not pulling his weight, and he clearly IS working his bollocks off.
I should add that the crowd got right behind every header and tackle won on Saturday and you could see in his posture that he was responding to it, growing into the game.
It appears confidence has been the issue so far then.
Fans can really make a difference sometimes.

Still dog shit for me...to slow, doesn't show for the ball from the CBs when he should, doesn't get near tackles and only passes side wards or backwards!

He's been better than dog shit and he deserves a pat on the back for his efforts. But Barca, Arsenal, Spuds and dippers would crucify him. Will never be good enough, unfortunately, but shown he can be a poor man's Nige if anyone wants that kind of thing.Been a mistake not to replace him which I hope we don't come to reret.

Garcia has been better lately, although there can be no hiding from the fact he's been largely shite for us, whether playing in defence or midfield.
Even with his improved performances, he's still a far inferior player to Barry and letting Barry go, but keeping Garcia, was a massive cock-up by the club.
With our current options, and if Pellegrini was resting Fernandinho or Yaya, then Milner is a better centre midfield option than Garcia.
