Has The Money Ruined Us?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I can only assume so, Dub.

I can never remember there being such outrage and disapproval against people airing their disappointment in the past. We have won one game in ten, are pissing our season away, showing asolutely no signs of improvement yet there are so many attacks on those who show their disappointment and anger over it........Fickle they are!

You tell me, Dub, whether it's down to the money or not, but never before has calling a spade a spade been looked upon so dimly.

Nail in the head mate!

If we had gone into such run under, say, Keegan, people would have been vying for blood.......wait a minute, we did and they were!
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

No, we used to despise twats winning all the time and then revelling in it and gloating, and then having tantrums as soon as anything went against them. I do understand your fear that we will turn into that, but I haven't seen it yet, and hope it won't happen. I think our biggest test as suporters will be when we actually start winning things. Right now everything's still quite "typical city".

No Nooly we used to be realistic...and now?

We have assembled a team LAST YEAR

and some expect us to be title challengers?
I hate to use the cliche but to some on here it would be wise words

'Rome wasn't built in a day...'

Who is? We are in mid-table and we were mid-table last season. No one is saying we should be challenging for the title..... people just expect reasonable results compared to money spend. 8th isn't reasonable right now.

Er...point missed completely...as ive stated earlier in the thread it's not about airing your disappointment...we all do that...myself included...it's about the attitude of some that it is our god given right to be up their challenging for the premiership despite us assembling a team like some would go an order a big mac...and like the original post...it is about the attitude of fans turning from the self defacating humurous bunch we have all been for years into nasty little clueless twats

We just lost...ableit badly to a very good team away from home...i'm not arguing our form...it's been piss poor...but a dose of reality seems to be something a lot of you cannot comprehend

Without turning this into what it is and we are all avoiding, I find it mostly the posters who are looking for excuses for the team's current form as the ones who have turned nasty.

And certainly no-one is expecting us to challenge for the title this season, but right now I believe we have the personnel to win the league, the first time in my life that we have this opportunity, as others have said it is frustrating to see a lack of progress towards that goal. But while most people with a certain H.O. attitude are trying to address the points, they are being shouted down by a nasty bunch of H.L. who I think are more frustrated because they not only have to endure the losses like the rest of us, but it must be getting hard to defend the undefendable.

All said and done when you can finally compete, you don't have to be the good natured larikins and what seems like self deprecating humour was our way of coping. Now we have no excuses and while you may not like the new attitude, I like the passion from us no matter the form and would rather that than apathy.

And I suppose a couple more seasons or so to achieve that is out of the question?

That's the trouble Slim...too many fans wanting too much right now...more impatient than i've ever seen...people expecting us to do a Chelsea...even though they were already a top 4 side when Romans millions came in

Nobody seems to be looking at this with perspective at all

Everyone here wants us to win every game...myself included...but i'm also a lot more realistic than a great deal of posters and i'm also willing to wait that little bit more...as are many city fans

I did say progress towards the goal, also I said no-one expects the title this season.

If we were showing progress I am sure life would be a lot calmer and after we lost to the filth I even posted that I saw a fight in us and praised Hughes for instilling that in the players...maybe I spoke too soon because as the weeks wear on we seem to be losing that edge, we have come back into games(Burnley is an example) but progress would be putting teams to the sword and play for the full 90 minutes and we haven't done that since Arsenal got stomped in the league(I am not including beating up their kids, cause that was just tragic).

Maybe you'd get a less hostile response if you didn't label people Hughes "lovers/lickers". I don't love the guy but I'm firmly in the "Hughes in" camp. You say that people are entitled to their opinion but you use an insult to refer to this "group". That's provocative.

I'm on the fence but can i ask a question

What in your opinion is too much, taking into account all people have asked is for us to compete and show signs of improvement?

cheers

You're right mate.

Its starting to feel very like last season, with this cup semi becoming the reason to hold on even if the league falters. I want a throphy as much as the next lad, but to me, fourth is more important and we have to finish within a whisker of it at worst IMO. Only then will we get the next calibur of player. The real world class players.

We are half a season in

Ask me the same question in May then perhaps you will be able to answer that one yourself either way

I walked out of the stadium when Fowler missed that pen against Boro saying that everyone needed to be sacked, Pearce, Fowler, the lot of um. We didn't have any money then.

One of the things I dislike about the fans/management of you know who, is that if they ever had a bad result the opposition never got credit for playing well. "The team had an off day", "The ref cheated us", "We've got a crowded fixture list", and so bloody on and on. A narrow victory might be treated with "They played really well today and were a credit to their fans who were marvellous today", subtext: "Well it was their Cup Final". Blinkered, pompous and patronising.

Few on this site have commented on the performance of Spurs. They were organised, committed and always a threat in attack, and responded well to being beaten by Wolves. Alas, they were deserved winners, so lets hold our hands up and admit it.

City fans have a reputation for staying loyal throughout decades of underachievement - and perionds of downright ineptitude. Yet we could recognise quality in the opposition.

I was in the Kippax when we all stood and applauded Zola when he came over to take a corner - if my memory is correct, they did us 5-0 that day. When Dunnie scored against us for Villa, the City fans cheered him as much as the home fans - a proud moment.

We want success for our team as much as any set of fans, but if our present circumstances lead to start behaving like the other lot, then we'll have become a lesser breed than we are.

End of the day we were total shite last night with noone even bothering, no fight. We might aswell have gave them the 3 points or played the kids like Wolves. I just dont know what the issue is. Apparantly were up for big games. Yet are 2 biggest games of the season at white hart lane and Anfield we didnt. It was summed up by robinho playing shite then sulking down the tunnel.

I would rather have lost 5-0 and actually tried to play / had a decent chance. We were fucking woeful and hughes is a tool for thinking RSC would make a difference when it was CLEAR we had no midfield.
