Fabianski, Gilbert, Bartley, Silvestre, Cruise, Ramsey, Song Billong, Merida, Walcott, Wilshere (Sunu 77), Vela.
Subs Not Used: Mannone, Coquelin, Eastmond, Ayling, Randall.

no one says a thing did they??

And you've just highlighted the MASSIVE differance between teams that are in 3 or 4 top competitions using squad rotation and Micks descision to throw a game in the prem in favor of anouther game in the prem - and he pretty much said in pre-match interviews that they didnt stand a chance against the scum ...

How many in micks 11 had first team prem experiance compared to the players Wenger played?

Oh and I think it was sheffield U****d that did this last and they got relegated.

Well we know with hindsight that Sheff U shouldn't have been relegated, West Ham should. But I get what your saying. Rotation is ok for big clubs with big squads who are playing 4 competitions but not for small clubs with small squads who only have to play in 3...

Bigger clubs do this all the time in the cups or in Champions League games and nobody blinks an eye. He's given up a slim chance of a point to improve his chances of getting 3 in the next game while also giving some valuable playing time to players he will possibly need in the new year. What's so different from Arsenal doing something similar against us in the Carling Cup?

The Premier League have a rule stating that clubs must field their strongest team. The Carling Cup doesn't have this rule.

So when Benitez rests Torres in the league ahead of a Champs League game why aren't Liverpool asked to explain? Surely any Liverpool team without Torres isn't their best team?
I agree with you and I also think it's a stupid rule, I'm just trying to explain why there is such a big hoohaa about McCarthy doing it but Wenger gets away with it.

Didn't Rafa do it a couple of years ago against Fulham in the EPL during the time that Hodgson saved them for relegation

I fit wasn't the rags who benefited, I doubt he'd be getting as much flak on here. I've never like McCarthy much, but I can sympathise with this decision from Wolves point of view. He knew that if they'd gone there with any XI they would have spent 90 mins chasing the ball around, which is a lot more tiring than keeping it. With 3 fixtures in a week, two of them against top 6 sides and a six pointer against relegation rivals, having taken 3 points from the Spuds match, I can easily imagine McCarthy sitting down and thinking, "well another 3 points against Burnley is a fantastic take from those 3 games". Tiring his players out against United potentially jeopardises that. And as for professional athletes and all that, look at how Villa collapsed in the second half of last season because O'Neill played the same XI for every league match. If Wolves had a slump like that they would definitely be relegated. Wolves don't care about the title race, they care about staying up.

McCarthy's biggest problem is the criticism from fans and the media is so strong on this, that if he doesn't get a win against Burnley he's screwed. This football article on Wolves' relegation odds notes that when O'Neill rested players in the Uefa Cup last year, fans were so angry it affected first team performances. I think it was the fatigue thing, but goes to show that either way McCarthy is in trouble now - the hounds are at his gate.

Sir Bacon Face fielded a weakened side against West Ham the day they survived against the odds...
